Job Description

Deschutes Brewery is a well-established and beloved craft brewery known for its dedication to quality, community, and sustainability. Founded in Bend, Oregon, Deschutes Brewery has become a pioneer in the craft beer industry, producing a wide range of award-winning beers enjoyed by enthusiasts nationwide. The brewery combines traditional brewing techniques with innovative flavors to provide a memorable drinking experience for its customers. Beyond brewing, Deschutes Brewery is deeply committed to community engagement, environmental stewardship, and supporting local businesses. Its Portland Pub offers an inviting atmosphere where guests can enjoy food, drinks, and a vibrant social experience.

The role of Host/Busser at the Portland Pub is an essential part of the team, providing the foundational support needed to maintain smooth restaurant operations. This position is part-time and seasonal, running through September 2026, with a possibility of extension based on business needs. As an entry-level role, Hosts/Bussers at Deschutes Brewery receive comprehensive training and have excellent opportunities for growth within the company, including potential advancement to other positions in the restaurant or broader brewery operations.

Hosts/Bussers team members play a pivotal role in creating a welcoming environment for guests by managing the front of house organization, seating arrangements, and assisting with table turnover. The position requires individuals who are team-oriented, organized, and possess strong communication skills. Availability during nights and weekends is necessary as this role supports a fast-paced, full-service restaurant setting. Employees are encouraged to take pride in their work and contribute to exceeding guest expectations with a positive and proactive attitude.

The job also involves responsibilities beyond typical hosting tasks, including working as Brand Ambassadors during on- or offsite sampling events. This unique aspect allows employees to represent Deschutes Brewery directly to customers and build their knowledge of the brand and retail products. In addition to a supportive work environment, employees benefit from competitive perks such as on-demand pay through DailyPay, paid sick leave and holidays, a 401k plan with immediate vesting and company match, employee stock ownership, and special deals with local companies. Of course, those 21 and older enjoy the added perk of free beer.

Overall, this role offers enthusiastic individuals the chance to work within a dynamic, well-respected brewery community while gaining valuable experience in the hospitality industry. The combination of structured policies, teamwork, and opportunities for both personal and professional growth make this an ideal position for those looking to build a rewarding career in restaurant service or the craft beverage industry.
