Job Description

Uchi Charlotte is part of Hai Hospitality, an innovative and rapidly expanding restaurant group headquartered in Austin, Texas, renowned for its exceptional multi-concept dining establishments. Uchi, which means 'house' in Japanese, was founded by the acclaimed James Beard Award-winning Chef Tyson Cole. This vibrant and dynamic restaurant is located in the Commonwealth development within Plaza Midwood, Charlotte, and is celebrated for its unique, non-traditional Japanese cuisine. Uchi masterfully balances elevated food artistry with impeccable service to offer guests an unforgettable dining experience. Its menu features signature tastings, sushi, and a seasonal omakase that attract both local patrons and discerning visitors seeking authentic Japanese flavors crafted with creativity and finesse.

Uchi Charlotte is currently looking to hire enthusiastic hosts who will play a key role in crafting a memorable experience for every guest from the moment they enter the establishment. This role involves being the warm, welcoming face of the restaurant, managing reservations, greeting guests, and coordinating seating arrangements to ensure smooth operational flow. The position offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $14 to $18, supplemented by tips and comprehensive benefits. This part-time or full-time position provides an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about hospitality to grow within an emerging company that places strong emphasis on internal promotions and career development.

Working at Uchi Charlotte means joining a team committed to excellence, hospitality, and community. The company values employees who thrive in fast-paced, high-pressure environments and who demonstrate the ability to maintain professionalism, communication, and adaptability. Candidates will have access to multiple insurance options, including medical, dental, vision, and accident coverage, along with mental health resources through an Employee Assistance Program. Additionally, the company offers an employer-matched 401k savings plan and dining discounts, creating a supportive workplace culture that encourages growth, teamwork, and respect.

Uchi Charlotte also emphasizes creating a safe, hygienic, and welcoming environment for both employees and guests. Hosts must be able to effectively communicate, respond to customer needs swiftly, and maintain a neat workspace. Physical capabilities such as lifting, walking, standing for extended periods, and exposure to varying environmental temperatures are important aspects of the role. Team members must also be comfortable working closely with coworkers in a crowded setting, while upholding the highest standards of personal grooming and appearance. Uchi Charlotte, as part of Hai Hospitality, is proud to promote diversity and inclusion among its staff, providing reasonable accommodations to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of their roles.

Joining Uchi Charlotte offers more than just a job – it offers a chance to grow your hospitality career in an environment that values your creativity, work ethic, and passion. The company’s commitment to providing an extraordinary guest experience is paralleled by its dedication to creating a positive, encouraging workplace where every team member can thrive and succeed.
