Job Description
Renaissance Hotels, a distinctive brand within the Marriott International portfolio, is dedicated to delivering authentic travel experiences that connect guests with the true essence of the neighborhoods they visit. Situated in the vibrant city of Chicago at 1 W Wacker Dr, this establishment offers guests a blend of sophistication and local cultural immersion, making every stay both memorable and unique. As part of the globally recognized Marriott International family, Renaissance Hotels benefit from a strong legacy of commitment to service excellence, diversity, and employee development. The hotel operates with a welcoming and inclusive philosophy, valuing the diverse backgrounds, talents, and experiences brought by its associates. This inclusive environment promotes equal employment opportunities and fosters a safe, respectful, and engaging workplace.
The current opening is for a part-time, non-management position in the Food and Beverage department, specifically tailored to hospitality professionals who thrive in dynamic, guest-facing roles. The role offers an hourly wage of $25.75 and is based at the Chicago location, with no remote work options available. This position is ideal for individuals passionate about delivering exceptional guest experiences and contributing to the smooth operation of the dining service.
The role centers on serving as the initial point of contact for guests within the dining areas. Responsibilities include warmly welcoming guests upon arrival, assessing group sizes, and seating them at clean and well-organized tables. The associate will ensure all tables are prepared with the correct seating, clean menus, and the appropriate cutlery and napkins, aiming to provide a seamless and enjoyable dining experience from the outset. The position requires navigating dining rooms to assist guests as needed, rearranging furniture to accommodate special group requirements, and maintaining all service areas to high standards of cleanliness throughout the day.
Beyond direct guest interaction, this role involves a vigilant approach to safety and security, adhering to all company policies and procedures. The employee must report any accidents, unsafe conditions, or injuries to management promptly. Uniform and personal appearance standards are strictly maintained to preserve a professional image. The role includes confidential handling of proprietary information and protection of company assets.
Effective communication skills are essential, as the associate will engage with guests and colleagues using clear and professional language, answer telephone inquiries appropriately, and foster a positive working environment by supporting team efforts and addressing employee concerns adequately. The position demands physical stamina, with prolonged periods of standing, sitting, or walking, as well as the ability to move, lift, and transport objects up to 10 pounds independently.
This opportunity is perfect for individuals seeking an entry point into the hospitality industry or those with some experience looking to grow within a reputable global brand. Renaissance Hotels provide a supportive work culture and a broad spectrum of benefits designed to enhance employee well-being, professional growth, and life balance. Joining this team means starting a fulfilling career journey where you can be your best self, collaborate with a globally diverse team, and contribute to creating exceptional guest stories that extend well beyond a typical hotel stay.
