Job Description
Marriott International is a globally recognized leader in the hospitality industry, known for its exceptional service and wide portfolio of luxury and upscale hotels. Among these distinguished brands is JW Marriott, which represents the luxury segment and includes over 100 prestigious hotels and resorts located in prime cities and resort destinations worldwide. Marriott International promotes a workplace culture that emphasizes diversity, equity, inclusion, and training to ensure employees can thrive and deliver remarkable experiences to guests. The company is committed to equal employment opportunities and creating an environment where all associates feel welcomed, valued, and empowered. Marriott values the fusion of varied cultures, talents, and experiences across its workforce, creating a vibrant and dynamic workplace community.
JW Marriott focuses on the holistic well-being of its employees while providing a luxurious and engaging work environment. By joining JW Marriott, employees become part of a global team dedicated to upholding the brand's legacy of genuine, intuitive, and innovative hospitality, grounded in the principles set by founder J. Willard Marriott. Employee satisfaction is strongly linked to guest satisfaction, which is why JW Marriott invests in employee development, recognition, and a supportive community. This is known as The JW Treatment™, which ensures hospitality starts with the care and respect given to employees.
The role available is a full-time, non-management Food and Beverage position located at the VEA Newport Beach, A Marriott Resort & Spa in Newport Beach, California. This position offers a competitive hourly wage of $27.15. The primary responsibility involves welcoming guests, managing seating arrangements, and ensuring the dining experience exceeds expectations. Employees will guide guests to clean, available seats, arrange seating for groups with special needs, and prepare the dining area with clean menus, silverware, and napkins. The role requires maintaining the cleanliness of the work area throughout the day with routine cleaning procedures and monitoring the availability of seating, service quality, and overall safety and comfort of guests in the dining rooms.
Candidates will need to ensure compliance with all Marriott safety policies and procedures, report any accidents or unsafe conditions to management, and participate in required safety training and certifications. Employees must maintain a professional, clean appearance, uphold confidentiality of proprietary company information, and protect company assets. Effective communication skills, both with guests and team members, are essential to deliver a consistent, high standard of service that meets or surpasses quality expectations.
This position is physically active, requiring prolonged periods of standing, walking, or sitting, and the ability to lift or move objects up to 10 pounds without assistance. The job involves a flexible schedule and open availability is preferred, with shifts varying as needed. While prior experience in a culinary or food service environment is valued, it is not mandatory, and no supervisory experience or specific licenses or certifications are required. Education equivalent to a high school diploma or GED is desired.
Joining Marriott International means more than just starting a job – it means embarking on a career path with opportunities for professional growth, working with a diverse and supportive team, and becoming the best version of yourself in a prestigious and globally respected hospitality brand. Employees of JW Marriott enjoy an inclusive workplace where they can pursue their passions, garner new skills, and contribute to a world-class guest experience that Marriott continues to perfect through innovation and excellence.
