Job Description

Hillside in McMinnville, OR, is a distinguished senior living community under HumanGood, a nationally recognized nonprofit organization dedicated to reimagining senior living. HumanGood has earned accolades for excellence, with Hillside being named as one of the 2025-2026 Best Senior Living communities for Independent Living and Memory Care by U.S. News & World Report. The community specializes in providing supportive, vibrant, and compassionate environments for older adults, allowing them to live with dignity and independence while enjoying access to quality care and enriching activities.

HumanGood focuses on building communities that foster growth, connection, and well-being among its residents and staff. With a reputation for quality and innovation in senior living, Hillside exemplifies these values through its warm, welcoming atmosphere, and highly trained staff who attend closely to the needs of residents.

The role of Host/Hostess at Hillside offers an essential opportunity to contribute directly to the dining experience of senior residents and guests. This full-time position involves greeting and welcoming diners, managing the flow of the dining room, and ensuring efficient seating arrangements that meet the comfort and preferences of residents. The Host/Hostess is instrumental in opening the dining room, setting up tables, maintaining the salad bar, and ensuring food handling complies with sanitary and recognized serving standards.

Beyond greeting and seating responsibilities, the Host/Hostess may also rotate into waitperson roles to provide additional support as needed. This flexibility enhances the dining atmosphere, ensuring guests receive timely and attentive service. A key responsibility includes managing a Point of Sale (POS) system to accurately log resident and guest meals for proper billing and meal tracking.

The role offers a competitive pay rate starting at $17 per hour, depending on experience, with a consistent Monday through Friday schedule from 11 AM to 7:30 PM. This schedule provides a balance that supports both work and personal life for the ideal candidate.

At HumanGood, employees are more than just staff—they are part of a mission-driven family focused on positively impacting the lives of older adults. This position also provides access to a comprehensive benefits package that supports health, education, and financial security. Benefits include health, dental, and vision plans, paid time off, employer-matched 401(k), and education reimbursement programs.

Joining Hillside means stepping into a role that values compassion, attention to detail, and excellent customer service skills. The position is well-suited for individuals with prior hosting or table waiting experience in retirement settings, a valid Food Handler's certification, and a passion for working with seniors. Evening, weekend, and holiday availability is necessary to meet the needs of the community.

Working at Hillside as a Host/Hostess offers the chance to be part of a nationally acclaimed senior living community while making a meaningful difference every day. You will engage in a supportive environment that encourages professional growth and personal fulfillment while contributing to a team that prioritizes residents’ comfort, safety, and happiness. If you thrive in a role that combines hospitality with heartfelt service to seniors, this opportunity at Hillside is an excellent fit.
