Job Description
Hellas Restaurant and Bakery is a renowned family-owned establishment with over 50 years of history situated in the heart of Tarpon Springs, Florida. Specializing in authentic Greek cuisine and a world-famous bakery, Hellas has carved a niche for itself as a beloved destination for locals and visitors alike. The restaurant prides itself on its warm, welcoming hospitality, making every guest feel like part of the family. The team at Hellas is a close-knit group that upholds values of respect, tradition, and collaboration, contributing to a positive work environment where growth and professional pride are encouraged. Many guests have been dining at Hellas for generations, reflecting the establishment's commitment to consistent quality and customer satisfaction. Joining Hellas means becoming part of a tradition that honors culinary artistry and a genuine, heartfelt approach to service.
The role of Host or Hostess at Hellas Restaurant and Bakery is critical in setting the tone for an exceptional dining experience. As the first point of contact, the host stand is where guests form their initial impressions; therefore, this position calls for a professional, polished, and dependable individual who can welcome guests with confidence and grace. The ideal candidate will possess maturity, strong communication skills, and an ability to manage a high-volume, fast-paced environment with poise. Hospitality is recognized here as both an art and a skill, requiring a balance of composure under pressure and the ability to lead the flow of the dining room seamlessly. This role not only involves managing reservations and table assignments using digital systems like Seven Rooms but also maintaining the entrance and lobby areas to ensure they remain clean, organized, and inviting.
The host or hostess must excel in managing guest interactions, answering phones with professionalism, and coordinating with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth operation even during peak dining times. Problem-solving and stepping up to assist with guest concerns or team support are essential components of the role. Furthermore, Hellas values punctuality, appearance, and professionalism, expecting hosts or hostesses to set a commendable example in these areas. This full-time position offers starting pay at $18 per hour, based on experience, along with discounted shift meals and comprehensive benefits for full-time employees. Benefits include health insurance with generous employer contributions, dental, vision, life and disability insurance options, pet insurance and discounts available to both full-time and part-time employees, 401(k) plans, health reward and wellness programs, financial planning support, employee assistance programs, and opportunities for career growth within a supportive, team-oriented culture that values dependability and experience.
At Hellas, commitment to diversity and inclusion is paramount. The organization is an Equal Opportunity Employer (EEO) that embraces a diverse workplace and provides reasonable accommodations during the hiring process in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Florida Civil Rights Act (FCRA). The establishment participates in the E-Verify Program to ensure identity and employment eligibility for all new hires, underscoring its dedication to maintaining a lawful and fair hiring process. This position is suited for experienced hosts or hostesses who are eager to join a reputable and respected restaurant where their expertise will be valued, their professional pride nurtured, and their opportunity for growth supported.
