This boutique hotel is a unique blend of historic charm and modern luxury, housed within a landmark 1931 church. The property features 25 meticulously designed rooms that preserve original architectural details such as stained glass windows, soaring wood beams, and a choir loft. Guests will enjoy a variety of on-site amenities including a sophisticated restaurant, lively bar, rooftop terrace, swimming pool, and a rotating program of art and community events that celebrate local culture and creativity. The role of Host at Hotel Lucile, specifically for the restaurant Sous Sous, is a pivotal position responsible for creating an outstanding first and last impression for every guest. The Host or Hostess serves as the initial point of contact and a key ambassador for the dining experience, ensuring every visitor feels welcomed with warmth and professionalism. Responsibilities include managing reservations, waitlists, and walk-in guests efficiently using the restaurant's reservation system, coordinating seating to balance server workloads, and maintaining the organization and cleanliness of the lobby and host stand. The position also involves effective communication with the Restaurant Manager and service team to address guest needs, special occasions, and VIP experiences. Beyond guest interaction, the Host contributes to the smooth operation of the dining room by assisting with menu presentations, event coordination, and upholding a safe and compliant working environment in line with California food safety regulations. Job Duties

Welcome every guest with warmth, professionalism, and genuine hospitality
create a positive first and last impression for every guest
manage reservations, waitlists, and walk-in guests using the restaurant reservation system
escort guests to their tables while introducing servers when appropriate
answer telephones professionally and assist with guest inquiries
thank guests sincerely upon departure and invite them to return
address guest concerns promptly and involve management when appropriate
manage seating rotations to ensure balanced server sections
coordinate table availability with servers, bussers, food runners, and managers
monitor dining room capacity and wait times
maintain an organized, clean, and welcoming host stand
assist with menu presentation and special event coordination
communicate VIP guests, special occasions, allergies, and accessibility needs to the service team
complete opening, side work, and closing duties
maintain cleanliness of the entrance, lobby, and host stand
keep reservation books and guest information accurate
assist with maintaining menus and promotional materials
support overall front-of-house operations as directed by management
maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude
demonstrate excellent verbal communication skills
work collaboratively with all team members
maintain confidentiality regarding guest and company information
