The role of Host at Tao Group Hospitality is an integral front-of-house position responsible for ensuring guests feel welcomed, valued, and attended to from the moment they arrive. This is a part-time position with a starting wage of $12 per hour plus tips, offering a competitive compensation package along with a variety of benefits including state applicable time off, pet insurance, a 401(k) retirement program with employer match, an employee assistance program, TAO savings marketplace, employee discounts, and much more.

Hosts play a critical role in guiding guests to their tables as directed by the maître d’, and they interact extensively with restaurant guests, fellow team members, and supervisors in a polite, courteous, and hospitable manner to ensure a gracious hospitality experience. The position requires anticipating and accommodating guests’ needs, maintaining cleanliness and orderliness in the entrance area, complying with health and sanitation standards, and managing reservations and guest inquiries efficiently. Hosts also oversee guest belongings where applicable and assist with pre-opening and closing duties such as organizing menu materials.

Successful candidates for this role are enthusiastic and possess excellent communication skills, a positive energy throughout their shift, and the ability to work in a high-volume restaurant, nightclub, or lounge setting. The environment is dynamic, often noisy, and fast-paced, requiring flexibility for extended hours that may include evenings, weekends, and holidays. Physical demands include standing, kneeling, bending, moving quickly, and lifting up to 50 pounds. The role also includes participation in daily pre-service meetings, ongoing training, and adherence to company appearance standards.

Job Duties

  • guide guests to appropriate table as directed by maître d’
  • interact with guests and team members in a polite and hospitable manner

  • take and process reservations for guests
  • assist with incoming calls and answer guest questions
  • check guests’ coats and belongings when applicable
  • assist with setting up front desk area and perform opening and closing procedures
  • ensure menus are printed, organized, and collected during shifts
  • report breakage and damage immediately to management
  • attend daily pre-service meetings and training sessions
  • portray a positive and professional attitude
  • demonstrate knowledge of the company and its partners
  • work as part of a team and support fellow team members
  • assist with additional tasks as assigned
