Job Requirements
- Must have high school diploma or equivalent
- Some college and/or higher academic standing preferred
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently
- Bilingual a plus
- Must have basic math, grammar, computer and keyboarding skills
- Must have interpersonal skills and ability to perform service recovery
- Ability to walk to assigned nursing units several times per day
- Previous hospital food service menu processing a plus
- Strong written and verbal communication skills

Job Duties
- Remain available to patients at meal times to ensure satisfaction by verifying correct orders and prompt tray delivery
- Maintain a safe, clean, and functional work environment
- Maintain professional appearance and use courteous customer service skills
- Attend training classes and meetings as required
- Preserve patient confidentiality according to NYULMC policies
- Perform duties as assigned by management
- Review patient census information and articulate menu selections
- Work as a liaison to Patient Services for meal setup
- Demonstrate and embody core organizational values of professionalism, respect, integrity, diversity, and excellence
- Consult with Nutritionist and Supervisor on dietary needs and patient status changes
- Inform supervisor of special dietary requests
- Enter patient meal preferences using Room Service Choice technology
- Assemble trays with selected menu items and assist in serving hot food
- Deliver meal trays to patient care units and bedside
- Retrieve soiled trays from patient bedside and return food truck to kitchen
- Keep menu tally and totals, insert new menus and pull discharges to ensure correct meal delivery
- Check and restock floor supplies
- Answer phones promptly and courteously, recording calls on Diet Office log as necessary
