At the Michaels store in Toledo-Rossford, OH, we are currently seeking a dynamic Event Coordinator to join our team. This role is essential in delivering exceptional customer experiences through the planning, coordination, and facilitation of a variety of events, including children’s birthday parties and craft classes. The Event Coordinator is responsible for creating a stress-free, engaging, and fun environment for guests of all ages by managing multiple events simultaneously and ensuring every detail meets the company's standards for quality and compliance.

This full-time position offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $11.00 to $13.00 and offers numerous benefits including health insurance options, paid time off, tuition assistance, and generous employee discounts. The role requires a highly organized and enthusiastic individual who can manage administrative tasks, customer interactions, and store operational functions efficiently to uphold the Michaels brand promises. This includes delivering friendly customer service, assisting customers in finding products and solutions, providing a fast checkout experience, and maintaining high standards of store recovery and cleanliness. The Event Coordinator also plays a vital role in promoting Michaels' rewards programs and engaging in omni-channel retail processes, such as Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS).

The work environment is a vibrant retail setting with climate-controlled public areas, supplemented by some stockroom and outdoor duties. Physical demands include standing for extended periods, bending, lifting, and accessing high shelves. The Event Coordinator must possess strong communication, interpersonal, and creative problem-solving skills to interact effectively with customers and team members while embodying a positive and respectful demeanour.

Job Duties

  • Plan and coordinate multiple events including children’s birthday parties and craft classes
  • engage with clients to create a fun and creative environment
  • demonstrate and instruct party participants in craft projects and activities
  • facilitate and implement party add-ons such as goody bags and balloons
  • communicate events with clients and store team members
  • complete administrative tasks including answering emails and making phone calls
  • adjust plans based on client feedback
  • uphold cleanliness and safety standards by setting up and cleaning before and after events
  • help customers shop and locate products
  • provide fast and friendly checkout experience
  • engage customers on rewards program and credit card enrollments
  • educate customers on customer feedback surveys
  • assist with omni-channel processes including BOPIS and SFS
  • participate in truck unload, stocking, and planogram processes
  • complete merchandise recovery and maintenance
  • perform store optimization tasks as assigned
  • support shrink and safety programs
  • adhere to standard operating procedures and company policies
  • interact positively and respectfully with others
  • cross trained in custom framing selling and production
  • participate in daily store cleanliness activities
  • perform other duties as assigned
