The company emphasizes comprehensive employee benefits, including great pay, overtime eligibility for schedules exceeding 40 hours per week, paid sick leave in applicable states, and a benefits package encompassing health, dental, and life insurance. The Host position at Maggiano's Little Italy is a pivotal role responsible for the initial interaction guests have with the restaurant. Hosts serve as the welcoming face of the establishment, handling everything from greeting and seating guests to managing phone reservations and maintaining the flow of the dining room. This full-time and part-time opportunity is ideal for individuals who thrive in dynamic, fast-paced environments and enjoy engaging with people in a cheerful and professional manner.
Essential functions of the Host role include estimating and managing reservation capacities in line with operating procedures, answering calls efficiently to take messages and reservations, and ensuring that the seating arrangement is balanced and fair among servers. The Host maintains an accurate headcount of guests, updates telephone message pads promptly, and handles gift certificate sales accurately. The role also involves maintaining cleanliness and organization in the host station and waiting areas, assisting with table movements for party size adjustments, and checking on washrooms to coordinate cleaning as needed.
Moreover, Hosts are expected to communicate effectively with guests, offering courteous assistance and managing wait times by accurately quoting waits within five minutes and assigning tables efficiently during busy periods. This role requires a pleasant demeanor, excellent interpersonal skills, and a proactive approach to anticipating and catering to guest needs, especially when managing special parties or busy shifts.
To succeed as a Host at Maggiano's Little Italy, candidates must have at least one year of experience in a full-service restaurant environment or an equivalent background. Accurate mathematic skills and familiarity with menu items and restaurant layout—including table and station numbers—are fundamental. Candidates must be punctual, outgoing, warm, and sincere in personality, able to stand for long periods, move safely in a crowded setting, and work during nights, weekends, and holidays.
Maggiano's Little Italy prides itself on fostering an inclusive, supportive environment where every staff member is valued, and equal employment opportunities are upheld. Joining Maggiano's means becoming part of a community that takes pride in delivering authentic Italian dining experiences while supporting the continued career development and satisfaction of its team members.Show Less
