The role of Host at the Four Seasons Napa Valley is pivotal as the first point of contact for guests arriving at TRUSS Restaurant + Bar and the Michelin-starred Auro. The Host is responsible for creating the initial impression of warmth, professionalism, and attentiveness that defines the Four Seasons experience. This position demands a high level of organizational skill, customer service excellence, and the ability to multitask efficiently in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. The Host manages guest seating, reservation coordination, and overall flow of the restaurant to ensure guests receive prompt and seamless service. This includes utilizing restaurant software systems to track capacity and guest preferences, communicating effectively with restaurant and management teams, and maintaining the ambiance and operational standards of the dining areas.
As the face of the restaurant, the Host anticipates guest needs, handles inquiries and concerns with tact, and fosters relationships by recognizing repeat guests by name. Maintaining impeccable attention to detail by overseeing menu presentation and daily specials is essential to uphold the restaurant's renowned quality. The role also encompasses supporting special projects such as menu updates and signage, contributing to the ongoing enhancements that elevate the guest experience.
An ideal candidate will have prior experience in a luxury dining setting, possess a Food Handlers Permit and Responsible Beverage Service Permit, and exhibit strong problem-solving abilities to manage complex guest interactions. Knowledge of the Napa Valley region is a plus but not mandatory. - Preferred experience in a luxury restaurant
- Must have Food Handlers Permit and Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) Permit
- Ability to multi-task in a high volume and demanding environment
- Strong computer skills
- Strong problem solving skills
- Ability to handle difficult situations and guests
- Knowledge of Napa Valley and surrounding areas highly desirable, however not required

Job Duties
- Seat guests promptly at a table pre-set for the number in the party and according to guest preference and service sequence and standards
- Set up host/hostess stand, review guest reservation book, and make recommendations as to the set-up of the room, maintain a station chart and cover count for the restaurant while recognizing the maximum workload capacity of each server in order to meet Four Seasons Service standards
- Use the available software to manage the restaurant capacity and guest profiles while communicating these to the Restaurant and Management Team
- Answer telephones and emails according to Four Seasons standards and take guest reservations or provide information regarding the restaurant or any other hotel service
- Anticipate the needs of guests, respond accordingly to guest inquiries or problems, and recognize regular guests by name and utilize the guest's name consistently
- Inspect and maintain daily menus to ensure quality, condition and appearance while developing a complete working knowledge of all menu items and daily specials
- Complete special projects (menu changes, signage, etc.) as instructed
