With a long-standing heritage, Denny's has become synonymous with serving quality food and generous portions at fair prices in a welcoming, family-friendly environment. Denny's prides itself on being more than just a place to eat — it is a community hub where guests feel at home and valued. The brand operates 24/7, embracing openness not only in hours but in customer inclusivity, innovative service, and team spirit. The company fosters a strong culture rooted in its Guiding Principles — putting Guests First, embracing openness, honoring its heritage, maintaining a hunger to win, and leveraging the power of teamwork — all of which help create memorable dining experiences for guests and provide a rewarding workplace environment for employees. With thousands of locations around the world, Denny's continues to be a leader in the casual dining market, focusing on exceptional service, quality food, and a comfortable atmosphere for all types of guests.
The Host/Hostess role at Denny's is a vital front-of-house position that ensures each guest receives a warm welcome and attentive service from the moment they enter the diner until their departure. This role involves multitasking in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating a sense of urgency, and continuously upholding Denny's high standards for service cycle timing and presentation. The Host/Hostess also supports other service team members by assisting with beverage orders, clearing and setting tables, and managing to-go orders, all while maintaining a clean and organized foyer area. The ability to use the point-of-sale system accurately to handle payments and transactions is essential, alongside adhering to safe cash handling procedures.
This position requires flexibility, as the Host/Hostess must be available to work varying shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. They must meet Denny's uniform and grooming standards and communicate effectively in English. Essential physical tasks include raising trays, bending, stooping, standing, walking for long periods, and lifting up to 30 lbs. The role demands strong interpersonal skills to provide courteous and respectful interactions with guests and team members alike, embodying Denny's commitment to diversity and respect. The Host/Hostess is also expected to be proactive, assisting team members willingly, and completing side work and deep cleaning duties as assigned.
Overall, the Host/Hostess role at Denny's represents an exciting opportunity for individuals seeking entry-level positions in the hospitality industry with room for development and growth. Candidates thrive in team-oriented settings and share a passion for delivering exceptional guest service. This position offers the chance to be part of a well-established brand with a proud heritage while playing a crucial role in creating positive dining experiences that keep customers coming back.
