Job Description
The Bartolotta Restaurants is a nationally recognized family-run restaurant and catering organization based in the Greater Milwaukee region. Co-founded by restaurateur Joe Bartolotta and his brother Paul Bartolotta, a two-time James Beard Award-winning chef, the company has established itself as a premier culinary brand since its inception in 1993. The organization is widely known for its excellence in service and cuisine, operating 18 distinctive restaurants and catering venues that offer unique dining experiences. Beyond its commitment to outstanding hospitality, The Bartolotta Restaurants actively contributes to the community through its charitable program, Care-a-lotta, supporting numerous nonprofit organizations throughout Milwaukee.
Working at The Bartolotta Restaurants means joining a team viewed as an extended family, where a "hospitality heart" is valued—a quality defined by dedication to excellence, genuine care for guests, and a positive, proactive attitude. The company prioritizes its team members as its greatest asset, acknowledging their crucial role in maintaining the high standards that set the brand apart.
The Host role at The Bartolotta Restaurants plays a central part in the dining experience, serving as the first point of contact and setting the tone for guests’ visits. This role is dynamic and fast-paced, demanding excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain composure and professionalism amid a busy environment. Hosts greet guests, manage the flow of the dining room, and ensure smooth operations from start to finish. They coordinate waitlists during peak times by providing accurate wait time estimates and manage reservations to maintain an organized dining schedule.
Additionally, Hosts are responsible for handling guest inquiries both in person and over the phone, demonstrating thorough knowledge of menu items to assist guests and vendors effectively. The role requires attention to detail in recording guest information accurately and managing transactions related to gift certificate purchases. Maintaining a clean and organized work area, performing side work before, during, and after shifts, and supporting other team members as needed are also key aspects of the job.
Employment with The Bartolotta Restaurants offers a competitive and comprehensive benefits package tailored to support employees’ personal and professional lives. Full-time employees enjoy medical, prescription, dental, and vision insurance, along with company-paid life insurance and both short- and long-term disability coverage. Supplemental insurance options are available, including accident, critical illness, and hospital insurance. Additional perks include an Employee Assistance Program, LegalShield and IDShield protection, pet insurance, a 401(k) savings plan, and flexible spending accounts including health savings options. The company also offers complimentary workday family meals, dining discounts, and discounted tickets for local attractions such as Discovery World and Fiserv Forum events.
The Bartolotta Restaurants provides an enriching environment where employees can grow their careers under the mentorship of industry leaders, with hands-on training that nurtures their passion for hospitality and excellence. If you thrive in a fast-paced, guest-focused setting and bring a can-do attitude, this role offers an exciting opportunity to be at the heart of the action in a well-established and respected culinary brand.
