The Host/Hostess role at Chanhassen Dinner Theatres is a pivotal customer-facing position within the Food & Beverage Department. Reporting directly to Food & Beverage Managers, hosts and hostesses serve as the first point of contact for guests, making their initial impression critical to setting the tone for an enjoyable evening. Responsibilities include greeting guests warmly, managing seating arrangements efficiently, and ensuring that any special requests or needs are promptly communicated to the management and service staff. The position requires a team-oriented individual capable of multitasking in a fast-paced environment, often dealing with a high volume of patrons during peak performance times.
In addition to seating guests, hosts and hostesses assist with preparing programs, setting up dining rooms, and supporting the service staff by pouring beverages and clearing tables. The role demands excellent communication skills to relay guest feedback, requests, or complaints directly to the Food & Beverage Manager on duty, ensuring seamless service and guest satisfaction. Due to the dynamic nature of live performances, the role also includes responding appropriately to emergencies and any unforeseen circumstances that may arise during the event. Chanhassen Dinner Theatres emphasizes inclusivity and team collaboration, expecting hosts and hostesses to assist co-workers and contribute positively to the workplace culture.
This is a non-exempt position that typically requires standing on one’s feet for extended periods and the ability to lift up to 40 pounds, highlighting the physical demands of the job. While prior experience in a similar role is preferred, it is not mandatory, making this an excellent opportunity for those passionate about hospitality and eager to grow their skills within a respected dining and entertainment venue. Chanhassen Dinner Theatres is committed to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion, ensuring that every employee and guest feels welcome and valued. This commitment is central to the company’s culture and ongoing success in the highly competitive entertainment industry.
