The role of Host at Pizza Nova is a critical position within the service team. Reporting directly to the General Manager and the management team, the Host acts as the first point of contact for guests entering the restaurant. This role demands a service-oriented mindset, excellent interpersonal skills, and a proactive attitude to maintain the high standards set by the company. The Host is responsible for greeting guests warmly, managing reservations efficiently using the company's Point of Sale (POS) and booking systems, and facilitating seamless seating arrangements to maximize comfort and flow. 

Beyond these duties, the Host will field phone calls professionally, respond to inquiries, and assist management by routing messages or escalating issues when necessary. The position also involves staying alert to special events or large parties, ensuring guests are directed properly to their designated areas. Maintaining the cleanliness and presentation of the host stand and restaurant entry is essential to creating a welcoming atmosphere.

As part of a team-driven environment, the Host contributes to overall restaurant operations by assisting in bussing tables, resetting for new guests, and ensuring menus are clean and up-to-date. Job Duties

  • Acknowledge all guests entering and exiting the restaurant with genuine greetings, salutations, and thank yous
  • answer phones following proper company procedures
  • answer questions and general inquiries
  • route calls to management and/or take messages as appropriate
  • take and manage restaurant reservations using company POS and booking system
  • be aware of large parties and events taking place and help to direct guests accordingly
  • seat guests at tables, provide menus, and alert the service team to the new table
  • track restaurant capacity and table availability to determine desirable seating cadence and provide estimate wait times to guests
  • alert management if issues arise with table availability or reservation times are not being met
  • ensure the host stand and restaurant entry are clean and presentable at all times
  • assist service team with bussing and setting tables to help ensure availability for new guests
  • ensure menus are current, clean, and presentable
  • assist with other side work and tasks as needed: stocking the host stand and service areas, setting tables, cleaning, etc.
  • follow proper cleaning and handwashing standards
  • perform additional duties and projects, such as deep cleaning tasks, as assigned
