The role of Host is pivotal within our team, acting as the first impression for guests and the final point of hospitality as they leave. As a Host, you will be responsible for greeting guests warmly and seating them with intention, which means considering various factors to optimize guest satisfaction and restaurant flow. You will manage reservations and waitlists, coordinating with servers and the kitchen team to maintain an efficient operation. Staying aware of current restaurant happenings such as events, table availability, and special requests is crucial to this role. You will need to be knowledgeable about the menu, daily specials, and any items that might no longer be available to answer guest inquiries confidently.

Additionally, familiarity with the restaurant layout including seat numbers, capacity, and table setups is essential. This knowledge helps in managing seating arrangements that balance guest comfort with optimal restaurant efficiency. A successful Host also contributes to enhancing the guest experience by sharing information about local events or attractions, adding value to the dining visit.

This position requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with guests both in person and on the phone. You should be comfortable handling basic math tasks related to party counts, bills, and reservations. Experience with point of sale (POS) systems or reservation software is preferred to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.

Physical endurance is important as the role involves standing for the entire shift and performing some light lifting and reaching. A calm and professional demeanor combined with a friendly attitude will help you excel in this important ambassadorial role. Previous experience in hosting or customer service is considered a plus, but a willingness to learn and a passion for hospitality are the most valued traits.
