Job Description
The Culver Hotel is a distinguished and historic luxury hotel located in the vibrant Downtown Culver City area of Los Angeles. Established in 1924, it is recognized as a National Landmark that embodies a perfect blend of classic elegance and contemporary sophistication. The hotel is renowned for its European-inspired ambiance and artful design, making it a staple destination not only for travelers seeking comfort and style but also for locals looking to experience curated events, fine dining, and a rich cultural atmosphere. The Culver Hotel offers guests an opportunity to immerse themselves in a unique environment where history and modern-day hospitality are seamlessly intertwined.
As a central hub in one of Los Angeles' most walkable and dynamic neighborhoods, the hotel attracts a clientele that appreciates luxury, history, and community connectivity. Whether visitors are enjoying live music performances, attending special events hosted on-site, dining in the acclaimed Lillie's restaurant, or staying in one of the vintage-inspired guest rooms, they experience a consistently high level of service and attention to detail that reflects the hotel's storied past and progressive outlook.
The role available at The Culver Hotel is that of a Host/Hostess within the restaurant setting, specifically at Lillie's dining establishment. This position is pivotal in creating an excellent first impression and maintaining an inviting atmosphere for all patrons. The Host/Hostess serves as the face of the restaurant, warmly greeting guests upon arrival, managing reservations and waitlists, and coordinating seating arrangements to ensure a smooth flow of service even during peak dining hours. The role demands a professional yet friendly demeanor, strong organizational skills, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Beyond the operational duties, the Host/Hostess is responsible for fostering a guest-centered environment by remembering guest preferences, handling inquiries, and proactively addressing any issues or concerns that may arise. This role also involves close collaboration with the restaurant's front-of-house and kitchen teams to ensure seamless communication and an overall positive dining experience. The successful candidate will be expected to assist in training new hosts, provide support during busy service times, and contribute to the teamwork that upholds the high standards of hospitality for which The Culver Hotel is known.
The ideal candidate will possess prior customer service or hospitality experience, preferably in a restaurant setting, and be adept with reservation systems and phone etiquette. This role requires standing and moving throughout the restaurant for extended periods and occasionally lifting and carrying items. Joining The Culver Hotel means joining Proper Hospitality, a company dedicated to creating best-in-class workplaces where creativity, excellence, and humanity thrive. Proper Hospitality invests in the growth and well-being of their team members, providing comprehensive benefits and career development opportunities. Embracing the 'Pillars of Proper,' which include Care Proper, Achieve Proper, Imagine Proper, and Present Proper, team members are encouraged to bring their authentic selves and contribute to building beautiful experiences together. By joining this team, you become part of a community committed to fostering a culture of inclusion, respect, and continuous improvement, making The Culver Hotel not just a workplace but a place where your career and personal growth are nurtured.
