The Host role at Duffy's is a crucial position responsible for managing the restaurant's seating and flow effectively while delivering an exceptional first and last impression to every guest. Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Host facilitates a smooth dining experience by warmly greeting guests, managing reservations, and guiding patrons to their tables or waiting areas. The Host ensures the seating arrangement is balanced to optimize server performance, distributing guests according to specific rotation rules. They are also responsible for assisting with takeout orders by accurately entering them into the Point of Sale (POS) system, answering telephone inquiries, and maintaining a continuous flow of information among guests, kitchen staff, servers, and management. Their attentiveness extends to monitoring dining spaces, restrooms, and guest comfort, ensuring cleanliness and a welcoming environment every day.

Job Duties

  • Greet guests and seat them at tables or in waiting areas
  • Assign guests to tables suitable for their needs and according to rotation so that servers receive an appropriate number of seatings
  • Provide guests with menus
  • Answer telephone calls and respond to inquiries or transfer calls
  • Input takeout orders accurately into POS system
  • Speak with guests to ensure satisfaction with food and service, to respond to complaints, or to make conversation
  • Maintain contact with kitchen staff, management, serving staff, and customers to ensure that dining details are handled properly, and guests' concerns are addressed
  • Receive and record guest dining reservations
  • Inspect dining and serving areas to ensure cleanliness and proper setup
  • Inform guests of establishment specialties and features
  • Inspect restrooms for cleanliness and availability of supplies and clean restrooms when necessary
  • Assist other restaurant workers by serving food and beverages, or by bussing tables
  • Direct guests to bar area while waiting for a table
  • Maintain a positive and professional approach to coworkers and customers
  • Demonstrate strong MVP program knowledge
