Job Description

The hiring establishment is a restaurant dedicated to providing exceptional dining experiences through warm hospitality and efficient service. This establishment emphasizes not only delivering culinary excellence but also creating a welcoming atmosphere that leaves every guest with a lasting positive impression. As a host or hostess, you will be at the forefront of guest interaction, playing a crucial role in the smooth operation of the dining room environment. The restaurant prides itself on fostering an inclusive culture focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion, alongside a commitment to environmental and societal responsibility, ensuring a workplace that values every individual and strives for a positive impact beyond the dining experience.

The Host/Hostess position is a vital front-of-house role responsible for greeting guests warmly, managing the seating chart efficiently, quoting accurate wait times, and maintaining smooth service flow. The role requires a genuine smile, professionalism, and excellent communication skills to make guests feel welcomed and attended to from the moment they arrive until they leave. In this role, the ability to multitask in a busy environment, handle reservations and online booking systems, coordinate with servers and management, and maintain cleanliness and organization of the host station is essential to ensure efficient service delivery. The position also includes minor side duties such as assisting with light cleaning and folding napkins, aiming to keep the restaurant environment orderly and guest-ready at all times.

Beyond day-to-day operational duties, the Host/Hostess embodies the restaurant’s core competencies, providing excellent customer service, demonstrating problem-solving skills, maintaining professionalism, and fostering teamwork among staff. This position demands attention to detail, composure under pressure, and basic computer skills to operate reservation and point-of-sale systems effectively. Physical stamina is also important, as the job requires standing and walking for extended periods with occasional lifting of up to 15 lbs.

The restaurant values candidates with a high school diploma or equivalent, previous customer service experience—especially in a restaurant setting—strong work ethic, positive attitude, and flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. The role offers an opportunity to be part of a team dedicated to creating enjoyable guest experiences, while supporting a positive and inclusive work environment that prioritizes employee and community well-being. Overall, the Host/Hostess position is perfect for individuals passionate about hospitality who thrive in fast-paced settings and want to grow professionally in the restaurant industry.
