As part of the Migis Hotel Group, Shade offers guests a unique dining experience that highlights the beauty of the Maine coast alongside a delicious menu and attentive service. The restaurant is not just a place to eat but a vibrant community hub during the warmer months, attracting both locals and tourists who seek a memorable meal by the ocean. With an emphasis on quality service and guest satisfaction, Shade at Higgins Beach Inn has established itself as a preferred destination for those looking to unwind and savor coastal cuisine in a relaxed yet refined setting. This seasonal venue operates from May through October, embodying the spirit of summer and fall by the beach.

The Host position at Shade at Higgins Beach Inn is an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about hospitality and eager to grow their careers in the restaurant industry. This role is pivotal as the host is the first and last point of contact for guests, setting the tone for their entire dining experience. The host is tasked with providing guests a warm, enthusiastic welcome and ensuring a smooth, organized flow of service. Responsibilities include managing seating arrangements following the Inn's standards, communicating effectively with the wait staff, and addressing guests' inquiries and special requests with professionalism and care. This position requires a fast-paced and motivated individual who thrives in a dynamic environment and remains composed under pressure. Working between 8 to 30 hours per week, hosts at Shade can expect competitive pay ranging from $14 to $17 per hour plus tips, reflecting the importance of their contribution to the dining experience. The position is seasonal, starting as soon as possible through late October, capturing the vibrant hospitality season on the beach. Additionally, employees benefit from discounted stays and food and beverage offers at affiliated properties, enhancing their connection to the hospitality community and rewarding their dedication.

Beyond greeting and seating guests, the host serves as a team leader within the dining room, ensuring the wait and kitchen staff collaborate efficiently to maintain high service standards. Knowledge of seating charts, guest preferences, and the ability to anticipate guest needs are crucial for success. Hosts also support servers by assisting with tasks such as pouring water, clearing, and resetting tables. They uphold the restaurant's appearance standards and are vigilant about safety and sanitation. This role is not only about managing the physical flow of guests but also about creating an inviting atmosphere that encourages repeat visits and positive word-of-mouth. The host acts as the face of Shade at Higgins Beach Inn, embodying the brand values and fostering an environment where guests feel valued and cared for throughout their visit.
