Job Description

La Condesa is a vibrant restaurant located in the heart of downtown Austin's 2nd Street District, inspired by the culture, energy, and cuisine of Mexico City's bohemian La Condesa neighborhood. The restaurant is known for its positive, teamwork-driven spirit and passion not only for serving guests but also for supporting the local community. La Condesa emphasizes sustainability by responsibly sourcing the best ingredients from local farmers, reflecting its commitment through a seasonally changing menu. The establishment stands out for offering some of the best margaritas in Austin, enhancing its reputation as a go-to dining destination.

La Condesa is currently hiring a Host, a pivotal role within the service team responsible for creating memorable dining experiences by being the first point of contact for guests. The Host's main responsibility is to warmly welcome guests and set the tone for their visit, ensuring every individual feels valued and appreciated. This position demands strong communication skills, the ability to resolve conflicts tactfully, and a deep understanding of company policies. The ideal candidate will be adept at multitasking in a fast-paced environment while maintaining clear and concise communication with team members.

The Host will manage seating arrangements, liaise with supervisors about reservations, and oversee the flow of the dining room to optimize guest turnover and satisfaction. The role also includes escorting guests to their tables, answering menu-related questions, and ensuring the restaurant's ambiance remains inviting and clean. Hosts will also be responsible for keeping work areas sanitary and organized, supporting banquet setup and breakdown, and updating reservation systems to reflect the status of each table’s dining experience.

Beyond the immediate operational duties, Hosts will serve as ambassadors to the local neighborhood by providing guests with information about parking, entertainment, and dining recommendations, enhancing their overall experience. The role requires attention to detail, a sense of hospitality, and a proactive approach to addressing guest feedback and concerns swiftly. Hosts will coordinate with all departments and management to maintain smooth outlet operations and be flexible to assist in other areas as needed.

Working at La Condesa means joining a team that values real connections and excellent service as a way to positively impact guests’ feelings and experiences. The successful candidate is someone who thrives in a bustling environment, is equipped with a positive attitude, resourcefulness, determination, and an eagerness to learn and grow within the hospitality industry. This role offers a starting wage of $14 per hour plus tips and promises a supportive environment with plenty of opportunities for personal and professional development.
