At Hope College, Creative Dining Services operates a bustling dining hall that caters to a diverse group of students, faculty, and visitors, ensuring quality service and a welcoming atmosphere for all guests.
The role of Host at Hope College is a key customer service position that serves as the initial point of contact for guests entering the dining hall. This role demands a professional and friendly demeanor, emphasizing the importance of making a positive first impression through warm greetings, eye contact, and a friendly attitude. The Host is responsible for managing wait times efficiently, verifying dining credentials, ensuring accurate payment processing, and creating a pleasant departure experience for guests. This position also offers on-the-job culinary training through recognized programs such as Rouxbe and the Hospitality Training Institute of Michigan, underscoring the company’s commitment to employee development.
The Host position is available in both full-time and part-time capacities, with scheduled shifts in the late afternoon to evening from 3pm to 9pm (part-time) or 4:30pm to 9pm (full-time), including a required weekend rotation. Employees benefit from a variety of perks designed to enhance their work-life balance and support wellness, such as free meals and drinks during every shift, daily pay options, holiday pay, fitness center access, and discounts on retail products within the campus bookstore and markets. Full-time employees can access additional benefits like comprehensive health, dental, vision, and life insurance coverage, accrued paid time off, quarterly bonuses, paid holidays, 401(k) match, and tuition assistance for themselves or their dependents.
Overall, this role suits individuals who are enthusiastic about customer service, have an interest in the foodservice industry, and seek opportunities for professional growth and development within a supportive and dynamic environment.
