Job Description
Corewell Health is a nationally recognized health system dedicated to delivering personalized, high-quality healthcare to patients, members, and communities. With a commitment to innovation, collaboration, and leadership, Corewell Health fosters an environment where every team member plays a vital role in advancing the mission to improve health, instill humanity, and inspire hope. The organization is continuously evolving to meet the changing needs of healthcare through comprehensive services, state-of-the-art facilities, and an inclusive culture that values diversity, equity, and inclusion. Corewell Health prides itself on supporting its workforce by offering competitive benefits and opportunities for professional growth, ensuring a positive and balanced work-life experience.
The Support Services Technician role at Corewell Health is a part-time position based at the Royal Oak Hospital site, working day shifts from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with variable days and a weekend frequency of every other weekend. This role is integral to enhancing the patient experience by assisting patients and care teams across different departments such as Environmental Services, Nutrition Services, Patient Transport, Reception, and Supply Chain. Support Services Technicians are assigned to one unit per shift and typically support 12 to 15 patients each day. Their responsibilities include ordering and delivering meals, completing daily room cleaning, providing one-way transport to the discharge lounge or lobby, and responding to non-clinical requests using concierge technology.
Strong communication skills, adaptability, and teamwork are essential for success in this role, as technicians work closely with hospital staff, patients, and visitors to maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment. In addition to direct patient support, technicians may lead teams during the absence of supervisors, take part in training new staff members, and ensure that all services comply with state and federal regulations, accreditation standards, and organizational policies. This position requires navigating between campus locations as needed to support hospital operations.
Corewell Health values the contributions of Support Services Technicians as critical members of the hospital community. This role not only supports patient care but also contributes to the overall operational success of the health system by ensuring that facilities run smoothly and patients receive exceptional service. The role offers an opportunity for individuals dedicated to making a positive impact in healthcare to join a respected organization that prioritizes employee well-being, offers opportunities for growth, and fosters a culture of inclusion and respect.
