Job Description
Global Connections to Employment (GCE) is a distinguished nationwide organization dedicated to providing meaningful employment opportunities to individuals with significant disabilities, including war-wounded veterans. Established in 1986, GCE has built a strong reputation and a robust operational framework for supporting and empowering people by matching them with rewarding careers in a broad spectrum of industries. These industries range from custodial services, facilities maintenance, and food services to various other business ventures. The organization collaborates with a diverse range of customers, including the U.S. military, commercial businesses, community partners, as well as federal, state, and local governments. Over the decades, GCE has grown to become one of the largest private sector employers of persons with disabilities in the United States, underscoring its commitment to inclusivity and equal employment opportunities.
The role available is a vital one within GCE's operational structure and is based at Joint Base Elmendorf Richardson Airforce Base in Anchorage, Alaska. The position of Project Manager is focused on overseeing and managing assigned contracts to ensure compliance with contract stipulations and company policies. This management responsibility spans assigned accounting units (AUs) which the Project Manager must guide to successful performance. A crucial aspect of this role is ensuring the fiscal efficiency of these units, maximizing the effective use of resources and maintaining high standards of operational performance. The Project Manager plays a key role in bridging the needs of the client with the operational capabilities of GCE, ensuring that contractual obligations are met without compromise on quality or compliance.
The job requires considerable experience in custodial services or related fields, with a demonstrated ability to supervise and lead teams effectively. Candidates must have sound knowledge and practical experience related to contract operations specific to GCE’s work environment. In addition to leadership and operational skills, the role demands compliance with legal and regulatory standards, including holding a valid driver’s license, meeting driver insurability under corporate policy, and successfully passing all regulatory and security background screenings necessary for work on the specified contracts.
The working conditions entail a blend of indoor work and mobility across multiple locations under varying weather conditions throughout the year. Flexibility in work schedules is essential as the role may require shifts during early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays. Physical requirements include the ability to bend, crouch, walk, climb stairs and ladders, reach above head level, and lift weights up to 50 pounds on occasion. The role demands a responsible approach toward safety and adherence to emergency operation protocols.
This position provides an excellent career opportunity for motivated individuals who seek to make a meaningful impact, particularly those who are passionate about supporting people with disabilities and veterans through their work. Global Connections to Employment offers a supportive workplace environment with the inclusive culture and diversity aligned with its mission. Interested candidates are encouraged to apply online and contribute to the valuable work done by one of America’s leading employers dedicated to accessibility and empowerment.
