Job Description

This position is with a Parks and Recreation Department, which is dedicated to providing community members with engaging recreational activities, quality concession services, and a welcoming environment. The department operates various concession stands and special event facilities, offering food, beverages, and entertainment services to the public. Typically, the department organizes sports, community events, and seasonal activities that contribute to the overall well-being and enjoyment of the community. The role of the Concession Stand Supervisor is essential within this department, as it involves overseeing and coordinating the activities of Recreation Coordinator Assistant positions (RCAs) at concession stands and special events. This role ensures smooth operation at multiple concession facilities by managing staffing, food preparation, maintenance, and customer interactions. The supervisor is responsible for opening and closing concession stands, supervising staff schedules, and ensuring compliance with safety standards. The position demands leadership skills to coach and motivate employees while fostering a professional and respectful atmosphere for co-workers and the public.

Further, the Concession Stand Supervisor contributes to the operational success by managing supplies, assisting with event setup and tear down, and maintaining cleanliness and safety throughout facilities. Reporting and administrative tasks are also part of the daily responsibilities, including preparing reports and making recommendations related to hiring and disciplinary actions. This role requires flexibility to work in varied weather conditions and locations and to take on additional related duties as assigned. Strong attendance and commitment to the position are critical. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in food service or concession stand operations preferred
  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift moderate weight
  • Basic knowledge of food handling and safety regulations
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Ability to work flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Must demonstrate professional behavior and respect when interacting with the public and coworkers

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in food service or concession operations preferred
  • Experience in supervising or coordinating staff preferred

Job Duties

  • Attend to daily operation and opening and closing of concession facilities
  • Assist with various programs and concession stands
  • Assign tasks, train staff, schedule, and fill shifts as needed
  • Prepare food and products at concession stands
  • Assist with concession stand setup, tear down, and implementation including working inside and outside
  • Perform general maintenance and housekeeping duties in the Parks and Recreation Department
  • Ensure a safe working environment at all facilities
  • Complete various reports and submit to appropriate supervisor
  • Purchase supplies, food, drinks, and equipment to manage concession stands
  • Make recommendations regarding hiring, discipline, and termination of employees
  • Perform related duties as directed
  • Maintain regular and timely attendance
  • Interact professionally and respectfully with public, coworkers, and others
