Job Description
Salt + Light is a mission-driven organization committed to fostering dignity, belonging, and community through its values of Radical Hospitality and forged family. As a nonprofit entity rooted in compassion and abundance, Salt + Light works tirelessly to create meaningful experiences that reflect its core principles and engage donors, volunteers, and community partners alike. The organization places a strong emphasis on relationships, ensuring every interaction is grounded in warmth, respect, and genuine care. Salt + Light's dedication to excellence permeates every aspect of its work environment, from the welcoming physical spaces to the carefully planned stewardship and fundraising events, all designed to inspire generosity and foster connections among its supporters and neighbors.
The role of Hospitality + Experience Manager at Salt + Light is a relationship-driven, service-oriented position that plays a crucial role in conveying the organization's mission through exceptional hospitality. This full-time position offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $26 to $28, reflecting the importance of the role in supporting Salt + Light's development goals. Reporting to the Director of Development and collaborating closely with the entire Development team, the manager is tasked with overseeing donor and guest hospitality, stewardship activities, fundraising and development events, and the intentional presentation of Salt + Light's physical spaces. This position is essential in ensuring that every donor, volunteer, guest, partner, and neighbor experiences dignity, belonging, and genuine care, embodying the culture of Radical Hospitality that Salt + Light champions.
Key responsibilities include coordinating day-to-day hospitality efforts to create welcoming and meaningful moments, preparing for donor tours and special visits, maintaining hospitality and stewardship supplies, and supporting staff appreciation and team celebrations. The manager also designs and executes memorable stewardship experiences such as personalized gifts, handwritten notes, and donor recognition events that reinforce relationships and gratitude. Event planning and execution represent a significant aspect of the role, including managing event logistics, timelines, vendors, and budgets to ensure the success of development fundraising events and organizational gatherings such as the annual Summer Soirée and the World Ag Expo presence.
Experience design and environmental aesthetics are also critical, with the manager helping to create inviting environments reflective of Salt + Light’s mission and values. This includes coordinating seasonal and holiday décor, designing event aesthetics and signage, and maintaining visually cohesive and welcoming community spaces. Operational efficiency is supported through managing event inventory, coordinating transportation and setup, and ensuring materials and spaces remain organized and accessible.
The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational and project management skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to juggle multiple priorities. Effective interpersonal and communication skills are essential for building relationships across departments and with external partners. A creative problem-solver with a service-oriented mindset and a passion for hospitality will thrive in this role. Familiarity with nonprofit environments, donor stewardship, and hospitality or event planning will be advantageous, along with a commitment to upholding Salt + Light's guiding principles. This position requires a valid driver’s license and involves moderate local travel for events, donor visits, and organizational activities. By championing a culture of dignity-centered hospitality, the Hospitality + Experience Manager becomes a central figure in advancing the mission of Salt + Light, ensuring every experience strengthens community bonds and inspires ongoing generosity.
