Job Description

citizenM is a progressive hospitality company known for revolutionizing the hotel experience by blending technology, design, and customer-centric service to create a welcoming and vibrant atmosphere for modern travelers. Established with a vision to put humanity back into the hospitality industry, citizenM operates with the philosophy that work should be fun and fulfilling, both for employees and guests. Their innovative approach eliminates traditional reception desks, replacing them with self-check-in kiosks, and empowers their staff to take on diverse roles beyond conventional titles. The company values personality and attitude over rigid job descriptions, encouraging team members to be their authentic selves while delivering exceptional service.

The role within citizenM's Washington D.C. team is unique and multifaceted. As a citizenM ambassador, you won’t be confined to a single job title such as receptionist or food and beverage attendant. Instead, you will embrace a variety of responsibilities that include customer service, concierge roles, barista duties, mixology, logistics, and more. This dynamic position offers the chance to engage directly with guests, make meaningful connections, and contribute to a welcoming environment that enhances their experience from the moment they arrive.

Your day-to-day activities will range from greeting guests warmly and assisting with self-check-in kiosks to preparing and serving diverse meals, cleaning, and maintaining kitchen operations. You will also be brewing coffee, mixing cocktails, helping guests discover the best local spots, managing reservations through the property management system, and setting up meeting rooms where applicable. This multi-skilled role demands flexibility and a passion for hospitality, offering morning and evening shifts with weekend availability.

The position emphasizes a genuine, caring attitude and a collaborative spirit, expecting team members to think creatively, seek better ways of doing things, and contribute positively to the guest experience and workplace culture. Fluency in English is required, and additional language skills are welcomed. Candidates must have the legal right to work in the United States and be willing to travel for training.

citizenM offers competitive pay at $30.14 per hour with the potential for monthly bonuses based on performance, guest satisfaction, and team impact. Employee benefits include comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans at low costs, life insurance, a 401K plan, and the opportunity to stay at citizenM hotels globally, subject to business conditions. Staff receive generous paid time off beginning with 18 days in the first year, exclusive uniforms, meals and drinks during shifts, access to an Employee Assistance Program, and referral rewards. The company fosters career development, encouraging internal growth with opportunities to advance to managerial roles and work across different properties.

citizenM also prides itself on diversity and inclusion, striving to create an environment where everyone feels welcomed and valued regardless of background. They are an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to supporting candidates through accessible hiring practices and accommodations, ensuring a respectful and supportive recruitment process. Overall, the role represents a vibrant, people-focused opportunity within a global hospitality brand redefining how hotels serve their guests and team members alike.
