Job Description

The Osborne Association is a dedicated nonprofit organization committed to serving individuals, families, and communities impacted by the criminal justice system. With a mission centered on healing, restoration, and justice, Osborne provides comprehensive programs designed to support people in overcoming the challenges related to incarceration and involvement with the justice system. By advocating for policies that promote true safety and equity, the organization plays a vital role in challenging systemic racism and retributive practices that have long affected marginalized populations. Osborne’s commitment to justice is reflected in its holistic approach that encompasses prevention, intervention, and reentry services, empowering people to rebuild their lives and communities.

Osborne Association operates various program sites and services, including correctional facility-based programs and community initiatives, which aim to foster rehabilitation, personal growth, and community reintegration. The organization stands firmly by its core values—honoring everyone’s capacity to change, celebrating shared humanity, and maintaining steadfast commitment and advocacy for justice and equity.

The current opportunity is for a part-time Hospitality Center Staff member to join the Hospitality Center Network at Wende Correctional Facility in Alden, New York. This role is integral to supporting the visiting process for individuals and families with loved ones incarcerated at Elmira Correctional Facility. The Hospitality Center is a separate building that serves as the initial contact and support point for visitors, providing general oversight and assistance during visiting hours.

As Hospitality Center Staff, you will greet visitors, facilitate sign-in procedures, provide guidance about visiting policies, and help redirect those who may be at the wrong facility or visiting on days when visits are not permitted. The role requires clear communication, organizational skills, and the ability to maintain a safe, clean environment adhering to infection control and safety standards. You will also record daily visit-related data and share reports with supervisors and appropriate authorities.

Employment in this position requires clearance from the New York State Department of Correction and Community Supervision (DOCCS), which reflects the sensitive nature and security requirements of working within and around correctional facilities. Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain DOCCS clearance throughout their employment.

This part-time position primarily involves weekend shifts on Saturdays and Sundays, from 7:15 am to 11:05 am, plus coverage on four designated holidays annually. The role pays an hourly wage of $18.00 and offers an opportunity to join a passionate team dedicated to making a meaningful impact within the criminal justice system and supporting families throughout their visitation experience.

By joining Osborne Association as Hospitality Center Staff at Wende Correctional Facility, you become part of a larger movement focused on justice, equity, and community support, contributing directly to creating a more compassionate and supportive environment for incarcerated individuals and their loved ones. This role is ideal for people who are dependable, professional, enjoy working with diverse populations, and are committed to adapting as program needs evolve.

The Osborne Association emphasizes employee development through ongoing training and provides pathways for career advancement, helping staff grow alongside the organization’s mission and values. This is a unique opportunity to work in a supportive, mission-driven organization that champions social justice, personal transformation, and community empowerment.
