The role emphasizes a welcoming approach to all interactions with guests and employees and demands meticulous attention to detail in maintaining accommodations, janitorial supplies, conference rooms, and laundry services. As a Barista, the individual is expected to greet visitors warmly, accurately take orders, prepare specialty food and drinks, ensure compliance with food safety protocols, maintain cleanliness, and handle inventory management. This position not only requires physical stamina for standing and lifting but also a strong customer service mindset, effective communication skills, adaptability, and collaborative work ethics aligned with the mission and core values of Mercy Ships.

Job Duties

  • approach all encounter with guests and employees in a welcoming manner
  • thoroughly clean and restock accommodations
  • restock janitorial supplies throughout campus
  • launder bedding, towels, linens
  • complete janitorial tasks as assigned such as mopping and trash removal
  • clean and restock conference rooms
  • assist kitchen staff with serving food and in dish room
  • greet all persons in a welcoming manner
  • take orders accurately
  • prepare specialty drinks and food items
  • follow visitor safety procedures by logging campus guests and provide visitor badges as required
  • follow food safety protocols
  • maintain temperature logs and waste logs
  • maintain cleanliness of cafe through completing daily and weekly cleaning tasks
  • accurately complete weekly inventory
  • perform additional duties as assigned to support the hospitality team and overall operations
  • must be able to stand/walk for multiple hours
  • lift up to 25lbs
