The Hospitality Assistant position at Summit Brewing Company is a part-time, non-exempt role within the Hospitality/Marketing Department, focusing on providing excellent service and support in Summit Ratskeller beer hall, the on-site Gift Shop, and the Training Room. This role demands a versatile hospitality skill set, involving guest engagement, education about the brewery's story and products, bartending, bar maintenance, retail sales, public speaking, and a passion for craft beer. As a front-facing representative of Summit Brewing Company, the Hospitality Assistant will create a fun and inviting atmosphere for guests, support community and industry events, and uphold the high standards of Summit’s hospitality experience. The position requires enthusiasm, multitasking abilities, and a commitment to maintaining cleanliness and safety across multiple venues. The Hospitality Assistant will be involved in activities such as beer pouring, conducting tours, handling transactions, and providing audiovisual support for events. This role is crucial in fostering memorable guest experiences and contributing to the company's mission to celebrate craft beer culture while maintaining top-notch service. A minimum work commitment of 16 hours per week is required, with flexibility for up to 29 hours based on business needs. The job also requires compliance with TIPS alcohol awareness policies, physical endurance to stand for extended periods, and the capability to handle moderate physical tasks safely.

Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • availability to include minimum two weekday shifts and weekend availability
  • ability to stand for up to 8 hours per shift
  • able to work in various environmental conditions including moderate to loud environments
  • capable of lifting and moving objects up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 160 pounds occasionally
  • committed to following scheduled shifts or arranging coverage
  • minimum work commitment of 16 hours per week, up to 29 hours as needed
  • willingness to learn and uphold Summit Brewing Company brand standards

Job Qualifications

  • In-depth knowledge or willingness to learn about Summit Brewing Company, brewing and packaging processes, and beer styles and characteristics
  • TIPS alcohol awareness certification or willingness to obtain (training provided)
  • experience and passion for hospitality and customer service
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and basic computer/audiovisual skills
  • ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multitasking and time management
  • perceptive to guest needs for excellent customer service
  • public speaking experience preferred
  • availability for minimum two weekday shifts and mandatory weekend availability
  • must be at least 21 years old

Job Duties

  • Front line representation of the Summit Brewing Company brand and standards of quality to guests with enthusiasm and passion
  • build and maintain an in-depth knowledge of the Summit story and products to educate guests
  • maintain cleanliness of Ratskeller, outdoor spaces, gift shop, training room bar, and restrooms
  • communicate issues and provide constructive feedback to Hospitality Management
  • handle cash and credit card transactions including accurate opening and closing procedures
  • deliver engaging and informative tours for public audiences, industry groups, and retail partners
  • provide on-site hospitality support including setup, beer service, and audiovisual assistance for events
  • learn and execute proper beer pouring techniques
  • provide an exceptional customer experience
  • adhere to Summit brand standards and company policies
  • follow TIPS guidelines for safe alcohol service
  • perform general administrative duties
  • restock inventory in service areas and the gift shop
  • fulfill other assigned duties and projects
