Job Description

This opportunity is with a well-established Laborist Team that is actively seeking to expand by adding another full-time OB Hospitalist in the scenic Santa Barbara, California area. Santa Barbara itself is a remarkable city located on the central California coastline, renowned for its breathtaking natural beauty with the Santa Ynez Mountains providing a striking backdrop. The city is characterized by its distinctive Mediterranean-style architecture, featuring white stucco buildings and iconic red-tile roofs that highlight its historical Spanish colonial roots. Santa Barbara's vibrant downtown area offers upscale boutiques and a variety of restaurants that showcase local wines and seasonal dishes along the bustling State Street corridor. Not far from the city center, visitors and residents alike can explore Mission Santa Barbara, established in 1786, which remains a historic and cultural icon housing Franciscan friars and a museum.

The full-time OB Hospitalist role is uniquely designed to offer physicians a balanced lifestyle combined with professional growth in a dynamic and supportive healthcare environment. The position requires working seven 24-hour shifts each month with a possibility for additional shifts should the physician desire. One of the standout features of this job is its guaranteed shifts, enabling clinicians to plan their schedules effectively well in advance with 90-day advance scheduling. Physicians filling this role appreciate the absence of on-call responsibilities and enjoy more than 21 days off per month, providing a generous work-life balance that is often elusive in hospital medicine.

This role is particularly attractive for those seeking stability and flexibility, enhanced by the collaborative, collegiate work atmosphere of the Laborist Team. It fosters a culture where team members provide unparalleled physician support and access to ample resources, ensuring that every hospitalist can perform their duties effectively and with confidence. Additionally, leadership and advancement opportunities are available, supporting career development and path progression within the team and the broader organization.

Compensation includes an excellent base hourly rate complemented by a full suite of employed benefits aimed at supporting not only financial security but also professional development and well-being. This comprehensive benefits package offers medical, dental, life, vision, prescription drug coverage, short-term and long-term disability insurance, retirement savings plans, access to legal services, and a stipend dedicated to professional growth. Another notable benefit is medical malpractice insurance with paid tail coverage, relieving the physician of potential future liabilities and providing peace of mind.

The core responsibilities of the OB Hospitalist include a wide range of clinical duties such as OB/GYN triage, continuous fetal monitoring, assisting in gynecological emergencies, patient evaluation and management, attendance at deliveries, and surgical assists. These tasks require a physician who is not only clinically proficient but also able to thrive in high-pressure situations, delivering excellent patient care within the hospital setting.

In summary, this full-time OB Hospitalist position within a renowned Laborist Team in Santa Barbara represents an outstanding opportunity for obstetricians seeking a rewarding clinical role paired with an enviable lifestyle. The combination of a flexible, guaranteed shift schedule, comprehensive benefits, strong teamwork, and the chance to work in one of California's most beautiful coastal cities makes this a compelling offer for candidates dedicated to advancing their hospitalist careers in obstetrics and gynecology.
