Job Description
Baptist Health, recognized as a top place to work in health care, has built a reputation for excellence by caring for more patients in Northeast Florida than any other provider. For more than 30 years, Baptist Health has been ranked as the most preferred health system in the region, offering comprehensive and compassionate care to its community. As Jacksonville's only locally governed, faith-based, not-for-profit health system, Baptist Health takes pride in delivering a full spectrum of preventive and specialty care through over 200 locations and six hospitals. The organization's commitment to quality and innovation is evident through its centers of excellence, including Baptist MD Anderson Cancer Center, Baptist Heart Hospital, Baptist Neurological Institute, and Wolfson Children's Hospital, which serve as pillars of specialized healthcare services in the area.
At Baptist Health, patient care goes beyond treatment; it encompasses maintaining a safe, clean, and healthy environment for patients, visitors, and staff alike. As part of this commitment, Baptist Health is looking to expand its Environmental Services team by hiring a Hospital Housekeeper at Baptist Medical Center Nassau. This full-time, evening-shift role (2 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.) with rotating weekends is an essential position that supports the hospital's mission by ensuring that all areas, including patient rooms, procedure rooms, common waiting areas, offices, and bathrooms, are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized.
The Hospital Housekeeper plays a critical role in infection control and patient safety. Baptist Health leverages state-of-the-art UV Disinfection Technology through UV Robotic Machines, which effectively break down the DNA of germs in the hospital environment before manual cleaning is performed. This technology enhances the protection of both team members and patients, making the cleaning process safer and more efficient. The Housekeeper is responsible not only for performing routine cleaning duties but also for maintaining cleaning supplies according to OSHA requirements, adhering strictly to safety and security protocols, and demonstrating a friendly and professional attitude at all times.
Those interested in joining Baptist Health as a Hospital Housekeeper should bring 1-2 years of environmental services experience, ideally with familiarity in health-care or hospital settings. While a high school diploma is preferred, it is not necessarily mandatory. The role promises an opportunity for individuals who value a team-oriented, patient-centered environment to contribute directly to the ongoing health and wellbeing of the community. Working for Baptist Health means being part of a mission-driven organization that values its employees and strives to provide the best health outcomes possible through effective infection control, compassionate care, and innovative cleaning practices. Comprehensive training, supportive management, and access to advanced technologies create a workplace environment that prioritizes employee safety, professional growth, and job satisfaction.
