The role of Hospital Director of Benefits is a key leadership position embedded in the administrative office. Reporting to the Vice President of Compensation, Benefits & HRIS, this role is responsible for designing and executing a high-impact, hybrid Total Rewards strategy that aligns with the organization’s mission and strategic goals. The Director partners closely with the Director of Compensation and the Manager of HRIS to develop an integrated roadmap that enhances employee experience at scale through the delivery of comprehensive benefits programs. In leading a high-performing Benefits team, the Director oversees external consultants, brokers, actuaries, and trustees to ensure the effective administration of health and welfare benefits, pension plans, 401(k)/403(b) plans, non-qualified plans, life/AD&D insurance, short-term disability, voluntary benefits, and wellness initiatives.

Emphasizing compliance and regulatory adherence, the Hospital Director of Benefits manages ERISA, IRS, DOL, HIPAA, COBRA, and FMLA compliance requirements. The role also advocates for leveraging HRIS-enabled automation and self-service tools to streamline benefits administration and improve employee access to resources. Furthermore, the Director’s leadership extends to developing robust dashboards that measure return on investment, supporting data-driven decision-making processes. Candidates successful in this role will typically hold a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources Management, or a related discipline and demonstrate significant healthcare-specific employee benefits experience. Experience in alternative health plans and value-based care programs, combined with proven expertise in benefits strategy leadership and retirement plan management, including 401(k) and pension plans, is essential.

This position requires relocation to Houston, TX, a vibrant city known for its year-round warm climate, scenic bayous, and access to Gulf Coast beaches. Houston offers an acclaimed culinary scene, premier arts and concerts, professional major league sports teams, excellent educational institutions ranging from top-tier schools to higher education, and a diversified job market with no state income tax. Residents benefit from abundant housing options, strong travel connectivity through two major airports, a rich tapestry of community life and festivals, and a commitment to diversity and inclusion. The city’s growing neighborhoods and cultural vibrancy make it an attractive destination for professionals seeking a balanced and fulfilling lifestyle.

The Hospital Director of Benefits will receive competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits, further supporting a rewarding career and personal well-being.
