Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- previous custodial or janitorial experience preferred
- ability to follow detailed cleaning and safety procedures
- knowledge of infection control standards and chemical handling
- ability to operate floor care equipment including buffers and automated scrubbers
- physical ability to perform manual cleaning tasks and lift moderate weights
- good communication skills
- ability to work independently and as part of a team
Job Duties
- Cleans and disinfects all furniture, fixtures, and equipment according to procedure
- removes and properly handles soiled linen
- disinfects and remakes beds in patient rooms
- dusts and wet mops hard floors with disinfectant
- performs bloodborne pathogen and chemical spill containment and clean-up according to procedure
- strips, cleans, buffs, and applies finish to floors using high speed floor buffers, polishers, and automated floor scrubbers
- performs in between case cleaning and terminal cleaning of surgical, obstetrical, and invasive procedure rooms including flood mopping and disinfecting according to procedure
- vacuums and spot cleans carpets
- operates automated carpet shampooers and extractors
- performs cleaning and related activities in areas outside the facility using hand-operated tools or small power equipment to remove snow or debris, and sweeps sidewalks or stairs
- complies with safety policies and medical center emergency and disaster procedures
