The hospital focuses on providing comprehensive mental health rehabilitation programs designed to help patients regain a high quality of life through therapeutic care and supportive environments. As part of Universal Health Services, a Fortune 500 company recognized as one of the largest providers of hospital and healthcare services in the United States, Cedar Hills Hospital benefits from a broad network of resources, a strong commitment to quality care, and a supportive work culture. The position available at Cedar Hills Hospital is for a Cook in the Inpatient facility, with open part-time shifts scheduled on Saturdays and Sundays from 6:00am to 2:30pm. The role may also require flexibility to work additional shifts as needed. The Cook is responsible for the preparation and service of breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals for both patients and facility staff, following approved menu cycles and production sheets. This position requires the ability to work in a challenging healthcare environment while communicating professionally, respectfully, and calmly with patients, particularly within a psychiatric inpatient setting. Maintaining therapeutic care boundaries and effective interpersonal skills are essential components of this job, as it involves regular interaction with patients who are coping with mental health and behavioral disorders.
This position demands a good understanding of modified diets, industrial kitchen equipment, and food service sanitation guidelines, including possession of a valid food handler’s permit. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of recent experience in quantity cooking and some supervisory experience is considered beneficial. Additionally, the role requires successful completion of training programs such as Handle with Care and Service Excellence. Cedar Hills Hospital and Universal Health Services offer a rewarding work environment with a competitive hourly wage starting at $18.00, flexible scheduling, paid training, and opportunities for career development and advancement. The company also provides enhanced paid time off, additional paid sick leave, tuition reimbursement, and free counseling services through an Employee Assistance Program for employees and their families.
As part of their core values, Universal Health Services emphasizes a workplace that respects diversity and inclusion without discrimination based on race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, or any other legally protected characteristic. They take proactive measures to ensure a safe and respectful work environment for all employees while promoting professional growth, leadership, and employee well-being.
