Job Description
DARTS is a community-based nonprofit organization dedicated to connecting individuals of all ages with essential services and partnerships that enhance their quality of life. Our mission centers on helping people age well while fostering active engagement within their communities. By providing a comprehensive network of valuable information and resources, DARTS supports the health and well-being of the community, ensuring that people remain active, connected, and supported at every stage of life.
As an organization, DARTS is committed to inclusivity, equity, and diversity in its workforce and services. We promote a welcoming and supportive environment where every individual can belong and thrive. This commitment allows our team to bring a broad range of perspectives and solutions to the challenges faced by the community. We especially encourage applications from individuals who are underrepresented in the sector, including those who identify as BIPOC, Indigenous, LGBTQI+, veterans, people with disabilities, and people of diverse cultural backgrounds.
Joining DARTS means becoming part of a passionate team dedicated to making a meaningful difference in the lives of others. Our work environment is friendly, respectful, and supportive, with opportunities for paid training and community engagement. We offer flexible scheduling to accommodate various lifestyles, making it easier for staff to balance work with personal commitments.
The role of Home Helper at DARTS is integral to our mission. As a Home Helper, you will provide essential housekeeping and supportive services that enable older adults to remain comfortably and safely in their homes. Your work will foster independence and improve the quality of life for clients by ensuring their living environments are clean, safe, and well-maintained. Duties include a range of house cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, sanitizing bathrooms, cleaning kitchens and appliances, changing linens, and other client-requested tasks like organizing cupboards, doing laundry, or changing litter boxes.
Beyond physical cleaning duties, the Home Helper role is about building strong, respectful relationships with clients while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality. You will manage your schedule responsibly, accurately report work hours and mileage, and participate in relevant training sessions. This role requires sensitivity, especially when serving clients who may have mental health challenges or hoarding behaviors.
DARTS provides competitive wages at $19.57 per hour with mileage and drive-time reimbursement. Benefits include up to three weeks of accrued paid time off annually, holiday pay, transportation allowances, and access to dental, vision, life insurance, and an agency-sponsored retirement savings plan. We seek individuals who are punctual, dependable, physically capable of performing cleaning tasks, and passionate about serving older adults in a compassionate and respectful manner. A valid driver's license and reliable transportation within a 15-mile radius are necessary to meet client needs.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a purpose-driven organization where your work directly contributes to the well-being and connectedness of community members. If you are looking for a role with meaningful impact, flexibility, and a supportive team environment, consider applying to be a Home Helper with DARTS.
