Job Description
REM Community Services, a proud part of the Sevita family, is dedicated to providing community-based services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. At REM Community Services, the belief in every person's right to live well underscores its commitment to enriching the lives of those they serve. As an organization, they prioritize creating fulfilling careers for their employees and fostering a mission-driven environment. With a rich history embedded in compassionate care, REM Community Services operates as a vital hub within the broader Sevita network, which has been innovating and enhancing health care for over 50 years. Sevita itself is recognized as a leading provider of home and community-based specialized health care across the United States, supporting over 50,000 individuals with various physical, intellectual, and behavioral challenges. Together, this team of 40,000 members is devoted to helping individuals live more independent and enriched lives.
The caregiver position at REM Community Services offers a truly rewarding experience—both professionally and personally. This role involves assisting individuals in their daily lives, providing support for personal hygiene, and helping participants overcome behavioral and other complex challenges. The caregiver's efforts aim to motivate and empower individuals to grow, learn, and live well. This role requires a compassionate, patient, and dedicated individual who finds meaning in supporting others and building meaningful relationships. Caregivers work an every-other-weekend schedule, specifically covering every other Saturday and Sunday from 8 am to 8 pm, and are compensated at $16 per hour.
This position allows caregivers to experience ownership and trust from leadership, enabling them to act autonomously in the best interests of the participants. By taking initiative, caregivers help participants engage with the community, support their developmental goals such as budgeting, exercising, and nutrition, and foster an environment of inclusion and personal growth. The role emphasizes teamwork, adaptability, and excellent communication, making it an ideal fit for individuals passionate about human services and direct care. Beyond the direct impact on participants, employees at REM Community Services gain access to a full benefits package for full-time employees, including a 401(k) with a 3% company match, paid time off, holiday pay, comprehensive training, and professional development opportunities.
Joining REM Community Services means becoming part of a stable and growing company that values job security, personal well-being, and continuous learning. Supervisors are deeply invested in both the participants' success and the caregivers' welfare, creating a supportive network. With a commitment to equal opportunity employment, REM and Sevita foster a workplace culture free from discrimination, embracing diversity in all its forms. If you have a high school diploma or equivalent and some experience in human services or direct care, you are encouraged to apply and explore a career path filled with purpose and growth. At REM Community Services and Sevita, every caregiver plays a crucial role in shaping lives and making a tangible difference in their communities.
