Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Completion of federally compliant training program as required by law
  • Successful completion of a competency evaluation program
  • Documentation of one year employment as an aide in an institution, home care or hospice setting
  • Meets agency hiring criteria including provision of professional references
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Responsibility for maintaining skills and adherence to policies
  • Ability to demonstrate organizational core competencies and ethics
  • Current driver's license and reliable transportation to and from work site

Job Duties

  • Follows care plan developed by RN
  • Reports client changes in condition to RN, as described on care plan
  • Assists clients with personal care activities including bathing, mouth care, denture care, skin care, grooming, bathroom privileges, transferring, ambulation, and dressing and undressing activities
  • Assists clients with household tasks including planning and preparing meals, feeding, light housekeeping, changing linens, making bed, and laundering clothes and bedding
  • Measures and records client's oral, rectal and axillary temperatures, pulse respiration and blood pressure as ordered
  • Performs range of motion and other simple procedures as an extension of therapy services as assigned
  • Assists clients in self-administration of medication under RN supervision and documentation
