Job Description

Hotels and Resorts of Halekulani is a prestigious and historic hospitality establishment located at the heart of Waikiki Beach, renowned for its rich cultural legacy and commitment to impeccable service. For over a century, Halekulani has been a landmark destination for visitors seeking an exceptional experience combining gracious hospitality, exquisite cuisine, and a luxurious atmosphere. The company prides itself on celebrating its deep-rooted cultural history while offering modern comforts and world-class service. Every employee at Halekulani and Halepuna Waikiki embodies the hotel’s core value of LEGACY, which reflects in their dedication to the "art of service." This ethos ensures that guests receive personalized and memorable experiences during their stay or visit to the hotel’s dining venues.

The Bakery Associate position plays a vital role within Halekulani's Food & Beverage team. This role is designed for enthusiastic individuals who are passionate about delivering outstanding hospitality and guest service in a bakery and café setting. The Bakery Associate is responsible for providing guests with a warm, attentive, and professional service while preparing and serving a variety of coffee, tea, juice, and bakery products. Working closely with the bakery and kitchen teams, the associate ensures that all food and beverage orders are fulfilled promptly and according to the highest standards established by the hotel.

Key responsibilities include taking food and beverage orders using suggestive selling techniques, preparing specialty coffee and tea beverages, maintaining comprehensive knowledge of bakery products, and ensuring that the bakery environment is clean, organized, and well-stocked. The associate also manages supplies, replenishes bakery display cases, and handles logo packaging for bakery items. Furthermore, the role requires familiarity with point-of-sale systems and adherence to all sanitation and safety regulations. The Bakery Associate must possess strong communication skills to interact effectively with guests and team members and should be adaptable to assist other staff as necessary.

This is a front-line hospitality role that demands high organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a busy environment. The associate will stand, walk, and engage physically during their shifts, sometimes lifting items up to 50 pounds. The position necessitates a positive attitude and the ability to maintain composure under pressure while delivering exceptional guest experiences. Additionally, the associate must be knowledgeable about the hotel’s services, local attractions, and activities to answer guest inquiries competently.

Educationally, a high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, alongside prior experience in restaurant service and guest relations. The role also requires a Liquor Commission Card in accordance with state law. The Bakery Associate reports to the Bakery Supervisor as well as the Director and Assistant Directors of Food & Beverage. This role does not include supervisory responsibilities but calls for a collaborative spirit to work alongside other team members effectively.

Halekulani is committed to equal employment opportunity and fosters a diverse workplace where all employees are valued and respected. The job requires physical stamina and willingness to work indoors in an air-conditioned environment with some exposure to outdoor weather conditions. The successful candidate will benefit from working in a culturally rich and dynamic environment that honors tradition and produces an unparalleled guest service experience.
