Job Description
DIG is a renowned restaurant organization that focuses on scratch-based kitchens driven by individuals who have a genuine passion for real, high-quality food and exemplary restaurant operations. As a company, DIG prides itself on creating an educational environment where team members, whether new or experienced, can cultivate their culinary skills, enhance leadership capabilities, and gain comprehensive knowledge of various positions within the restaurant. This forward-thinking approach fosters a community centered on learning, purpose, and taste — making DIG a prime destination for those serious about pursuing a career in the food industry. Established with the mission to rebuild the food system and create an inclusive team culture, DIG is committed to fostering an environment where diversity, equity, and inclusion thrive. The restaurant is particularly welcoming to female, LGBTQ+, BIPOC, and other diverse candidates, as they strongly believe in the power of a shared table to bring people together.
The porter (dishwasher) role at DIG presents an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced, dynamic culinary setting, earning between $16 and $18 per hour depending on experience, plus an additional $2 to $3 per hour in tips, and access to a host of benefits. This role is integral to maintaining the cleanliness, sanitation, and operational efficiency of the kitchen and dishwashing areas. As a key member of the kitchen brigade, the porter will be exposed to various culinary stations such as garde manger, grill, roast, market line, and prep, providing a gateway to learning and growth within the restaurant. Beyond dishwashing duties, the porter supports the whole team in maintaining food safety standards, ensuring equipment and workstations are kept pristine and stocked, and contributing to the overall success of daily restaurant operations.
DIG encourages individuals who are passionate about food and eager to learn culinary practices to apply. The role accommodates the physical demands typical of kitchen work, including frequent lifting and sustained movement throughout a shift, with reasonable accommodations available. This position is designed not just for those interested in cleaning tasks but also for those who have a desire to develop leadership and professional skills, as the company supports growth within its brigade.
Moreover, DIG offers comprehensive employment benefits, including opportunities for career advancement, competitive pay scales complemented by potential tip earnings, paid time off, 401K programming, parental leave, holiday time off such as Thanksgiving and Christmas, flexible scheduling options for both part-time and full-time work, complimentary meals, and commuter benefits. These perks show that the company values its employees and seeks to foster long-term satisfaction and stability in their careers. Joining DIG means being part of a bigger mission to advance the food system and thrive within a team that respects professionalism, inclusivity, and community values. The company also emphasizes adherence to strict health department and food safety standards to maintain its high reputation and commitment to excellence.
