Guests can enjoy signature Serenity beds and in-room entertainment on flat-screen TVs, along with on-site dining and a state-of-the-art business center to cater to all their stay requirements.
The Assistant Director of Engineering role at Hilton Arlington is a critical management position responsible for maintaining the entire hotel facility to the highest standards. This includes overseeing the physical building structure, mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems, and all related equipment through the implementation of energy conservation and preventative maintenance programs. The role ensures that guest areas remain attractive and fully operational, fostering a welcoming environment that meets Hilton's renowned hospitality standards.
As a management-level associate, the Assistant Director of Engineering is expected to work diligently to fulfill all job responsibilities, with overtime applied for eligible employees. This role requires direct supervision of at least three full-time associates or equivalent staff and requires the performance of administrative, executive, and professional tasks for more than half of the work time. The position demands a significant degree of discretion and independent judgment.
The Assistant Director of Engineering conducts regular walk-throughs to assess safe and efficient maintenance and operation of the hotel's physical structure and systems. This includes verifying maintenance and repair works in essential areas such as public spaces, meeting rooms, ballrooms, dining outlets, back-of-house areas, grounds, recreational facilities, and commercial spaces. Supervising staff and assisting in hiring, training, and disciplinary measures form essential parts of the role, ensuring a skilled and motivated engineering team. The Associate must adhere strictly to corporate purchasing policies and safety regulations, including OSHA guidelines.
Managing energy management and preventive maintenance programs and conducting training sessions for other departments on equipment safety and energy efficiency are also key responsibilities. The Assistant Director plays a vital role in communicating with the General Manager and other department heads about the condition of the hotel's infrastructure, proposing cost-effective maintenance solutions. Additionally, ensuring accurate billing for maintenance on non-resort assets and overseeing repair projects maintain operational excellence and financial accountability.
This role demands proficient knowledge in mechanical equipment such as chillers, boilers, water softeners, refrigeration equipment, plumbing, electrical systems, city codes, building laws, and blueprint reading. A background in office procedures, budgeting, and vendor management is equally crucial. The Assistant Director routinely participates in fire prevention, environmental health and safety training, and integrates seamlessly as a team leader fostering cooperation among all hotel departments.
Hilton Arlington offers a competitive benefits package following an initial waiting period, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, disability income, life insurance, paid time off, employee assistance programs, and a 401k retirement plan. The company also recently introduced the option of daily pay, reflecting its commitment to employee flexibility and satisfaction. This position is ideal for experienced professionals who are eager to contribute to a distinguished hospitality environment and take pride in maintaining a premier hotel facility.
