Job Description

As part of the Coastal Hospitality group, Hemingway's is dedicated to the art and profession of excellent service, making it a preferred destination for both locals and travelers seeking quality food and beverage offerings. The restaurant boasts a scenic oceanfront setting that enhances the dining atmosphere and complements its diverse menu selection. Guests enjoy a welcoming ambiance that reflects the finest standards in hospitality alongside carefully curated dishes and an extensive drinks menu.

The Bartender role at Hemingway's Restaurant & Bar Pilar plays a pivotal part in maintaining this reputation by delivering timely, accurate, and friendly beverage service to restaurant patrons and hotel guests. This part-time position requires a passionate individual who is knowledgeable in beers and spirits, possesses excellent communication skills, and thrives during evening and weekend shifts, crucial for serving the lunch and bar crowd effectively. Bartenders at Hemingway's are entrusted with the preparation of high-quality drinks crafted to perfection according to established recipes and the use of proper measuring systems. A strong emphasis is placed on cleanliness, organization, and adherence to state and local liquor laws to ensure guest safety and satisfaction.

Candidates in this role can expect to engage with guests warmly at all touchpoints, from taking food and beverage orders with up-selling techniques to managing point-of-sale transactions accurately. This position also includes responsibilities such as maintaining the bar's inventory, restocking supplies, monitoring the cash bank, completing cashier reports, and securing receipts at the end of shifts. Importantly, the Bartender works collaboratively with the team, fostering a supportive environment that prioritizes efficient service delivery and guest enjoyment. The role demands physical stamina, including standing and walking for full shifts, bending, stooping, and lifting up to 50 pounds, consistent with the active nature of the hospitality industry.

Hemingway's Restaurant values responsible service and requires candidates to be at least 21 years old and to have completed or be willing to complete TIPS certification within three months of hire. Prior bartending experience, especially in a high-volume restaurant or hotel setting, is preferred to ensure success in this fast-paced, guest-focused role. Those who join Hemingway's enjoy flexible scheduling that accommodates days, weekends, and holidays, alongside a competitive pay rate starting at $6.00 per hour plus gratuities. Additional incentives include paid time off, 401(k) plans with matching contributions, travel perks, and professional development opportunities. This role is an excellent opportunity for hospitality professionals passionate about exceptional guest service and eager to grow their careers with a reputable leader in coastal hospitality.
