The Healthcare Dining Server position at Lenbrook Healthcare Center plays a pivotal role in upholding these standards by delivering outstanding hospitality and dining services. This role is vital in creating a positive, welcoming, and safe atmosphere in the dining areas for residents and their guests. The Healthcare Dining Server is responsible for accurately taking meal orders, serving food and beverages, and effectively communicating resident preferences and dietary requirements to kitchen staff. This position requires not only excellent customer service skills but also a strong understanding of food safety, sanitation, and infection prevention protocols.

In addition to serving meals, the Dining Server supports resident well-being and overall satisfaction by providing attentive and compassionate service tailored to the unique needs of older adults and individuals with varying physical or cognitive abilities. The role demands a professional demeanor, adherence to Lenbrook’s dress code, and strict confidentiality regarding residents’ personal and medical information. Working in this fast-paced environment requires strong coordination and stamina, with the ability to balance and carry trays, stand and walk for extended periods, and maintain excellent communication with guests, kitchen, and team members.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • 1 year of serving experience
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of up to 8 plus hours per shift
  • Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of items up to 25 to 50 pounds
  • Continuous use of hands and arms for reaching, pouring, carrying trays, and handling glassware and utensils
  • Ability to balance and carry large trays of food and beverages in a fast-paced environment
  • Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching including overhead
  • Ability to work in a high-energy, sometimes crowded environment with moderate to loud noise levels
  • Tolerance for varying conditions including dim lighting, temperature changes, and wet or slippery floors
  • Strong coordination and stamina to maintain service standards during peak hours
  • Clear verbal communication and hearing ability to interact with guests, team members, and kitchen or bar staff

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to communicate effectively with residents, guests, and team members
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrate compassion, patience, and respect when working with older adults and individuals with varying physical or cognitive abilities
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and adhere to established policies and procedures

Job Duties

  • Provide exceptional customer service to residents, guests, and team members
  • Greet residents and guests in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner
  • Present menus, explain meal options, and accurately take resident orders
  • Communicate meal orders, special requests, and dietary needs clearly and accurately to kitchen staff
  • Maintain clean, organized, and sanitary dining and service areas at all times
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, infection prevention, and workplace safety policies and procedures
  • Manage assigned workload efficiently and perform all duties required for designated service areas
