This position is based at UTMB Health Mainland Regional, working as a Healthcare Host/Hostess under Sodexo's service management. The role is full-time, offering an hourly wage of $13.00, with shifts varying and requiring open availability, which means candidates should be flexible regarding work days and hours. As a Healthcare Host/Hostess, you serve as a pivotal frontline ambassador who warmly welcomes patients, visitors, and hospital staff, enhancing the experience of everyone on the healthcare premises. Your main responsibility is to provide excellent customer service, ensuring the smooth delivery of patient meals and maintenance of nourishment areas within the hospital setting.

The Healthcare Host/Hostess must communicate effectively with patients and staff to guarantee that meal trays are delivered accurately and on time according to patient specifications, including special dietary requirements. You will assist in setting up meals at the patient’s bedside, collecting soiled trays promptly, and managing inventory for nourishment stations. This job requires a high degree of reliability and a positive attitude toward teamwork and creating a safe and healthy work environment. No extensive experience is required, but 0 to 1 year of related customer service or healthcare experience is beneficial.

Job Duties

  • Effectively communicate with patients, staff and guests to ensure accuracy and timeliness of patient meal trays and floor stock
  • Record the amount and type of special food
  • Deliver meal carts to patient units
  • Aid in meal set-up at bedside with direct patient contact
  • Discard soiled trays
  • Take inventory of nourishment areas and stock when necessary
  • Accurately operate technical equipment
