Job Description
Sodexo is a global leader in quality of life services, providing food service, facilities management, and integrated solutions to various industries including healthcare, education, and corporate sectors. With a commitment to improving the quality of life for the people they serve and contributing positively to the communities they operate in, Sodexo fosters an inclusive and supportive work environment where employees are valued and respected. At the University of Kansas Health System St. Francis Campus, Sodexo is looking to hire a Healthcare Host/Hostess to join their team on a part-time basis, offering a competitive hourly wage of $16.00. This role embodies the essence of hospitality and compassionate customer service, acting as a warm-welcomer and experience ambassador within a busy healthcare setting.
The Healthcare Host/Hostess position is pivotal in ensuring that patients, hospital staff, and guests receive outstanding service, especially concerning the delivery and management of patient meals. This role involves direct patient contact during meal delivery and bedside meal set-up, which means it requires a personality that is approachable, empathetic, and attentive to the needs of others. The role is part-time with shifts in the afternoon and evening that vary, allowing for flexibility to accommodate various schedules. Team members will be expected to communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders to ensure accuracy and timeliness in meal tray deliveries and floor stock management.
In addition to patient meal tray delivery and set-up, the Healthcare Host/Hostess is responsible for recording special food requests, discarding soiled trays, performing inventory checks, and operating technical equipment related to nourishment areas. Punctuality and reliability are important attributes for this position, as scheduled shifts must be attended with satisfactory regularity. Other duties may be assigned depending on business necessities and client requirements, lending the position a dynamic nature with opportunities to grow and learn within the healthcare environment.
Sodexo places high value on fostering a safe and healthy working environment. Candidates for the Healthcare Host/Hostess position should be team-oriented, adaptable, and dependable with a commitment to contributing to the well-being of colleagues and customers alike. While previous related experience is beneficial, the role is accessible to those new to the field or with minimal experience, reflecting Sodexo's dedication to training and developing their employees.
Sodexo's benefits package is comprehensive, including paid time off, holidays, medical, dental, and vision insurance, tuition reimbursement, 401k retirement plans, and various discount programs, supporting the overall well-being of employees and their families. Additionally, some locations, such as the University of Kansas Health System, offer extra benefits like free meals during shifts, uniforms, safety shoes, and support for public transportation or parking. These benefits highlight Sodexo's commitment to creating a positive, supportive work culture where employees can thrive.
Working at Sodexo means being part of a company that values fairness, respect, and individuality. The company encourages candidates to bring their authentic selves to work and fosters a culture of inclusion and belonging. Equal employment opportunities are provided without discrimination, supporting diversity across all levels. This role is a great opportunity for anyone interested in healthcare support roles that combine customer service excellence with meaningful interpersonal interactions. As a Healthcare Host/Hostess, you will play an essential role in enhancing the patient and guest experience, contributing to Sodexo's mission of creating a better everyday for everyone in the healthcare environment.
