The position available is for a Reception/Clerical Support role at Avera Behavioral Health Center based in Sioux Falls. This is a regular, day shift position with working hours from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The pay range for this role is $18.00 to $23.50 per hour, subject to experience. In this critical role, the employee will perform a variety of clerical and reception duties to assist the unit or department, contributing to the smooth operation and high-quality service delivery at the center. The position involves welcoming patients, families, and visitors, managing phone and paging systems with appropriate reception etiquette, and providing accurate communication within the healthcare team. Additionally, the role supports patient care needs under the guidance of nursing staff, helping with admission processes, registration, appointment scheduling, and clerical documentation related to transfers or discharges. Responsibilities also include maintaining an organized work environment, managing supply orders, restocking rooms, and assisting in emergency situations by providing necessary directions. This role is essential in ensuring a positive experience for patients and visitors while supporting the clinical team to enhance overall patient care. Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Related experience in a healthcare setting preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members
- Proficiency in using telephone and paging systems
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work in a team environment
- Visual acuity adequate to perform duties
Job Duties
- Serves as a unit/department resource, providing customer service to patients, families, healthcare staff
- Greet all persons, answer inquiries, direct, and assist them
- Uses appropriate reception etiquette for telephone, nurses' desk receiving area and paging system when answering phone, making announcements and/or assisting visitors, assist in providing direction during emergencies
- Communicates messages, explanations and instructions clearly, accurately and in a timely manner to all members of the healthcare team
- Keeps work area clean and organized, assists or is responsible for set up and/or restocking rooms, ordering supplies, and cleaning
- Accurately enters patient admission/registration information, assists with completion of any required forms, preparing charts, order entry, scheduling appointments, and obtains/distributes patient education materials as directed
- Assists with transfer and/or discharge paperwork and communicates necessary for receiving departments/facilities
- Assists RN/LPN/Patient Care Tech in meeting the needs of the patient care needs as requested and appropriate to the unit/department
