Known for its holistic, community-based approach, Easterseals offers comprehensive services that reach thousands of children and adults regardless of their disability, military status, income, race, or age. The organization’s mission revolves around empowering individuals to lead meaningful, fulfilling lives by enhancing access to healthcare, education, and employment opportunities. Through strong public-private partnerships, Easterseals maximizes community impact and fosters collaboration between government bodies, private organizations, and community stakeholders.
Easterseals DC MD VA places significant emphasis on valuing its greatest asset—its staff of over 200 dedicated employees. Their commitment has led to the establishment of innovative programs like the Harry & Jeanette Weinberg Inter-Generational Center, which is recognized internationally for creating superior outcomes and meaningful connections across generations. The organization’s core values—respect, responsibility, integrity, innovation, and care—guide every aspect of its work, creating a supportive and inclusive work environment.
The role of Head Start Assistant Teacher at Easterseals is an exciting opportunity to join this mission-driven organization. Located at Marlboro Pike, this full-time position reports to the Senior Director of Head Start and is classified as non-exempt under the FLSA. The Assistant Teacher will play a vital role in supporting classroom operations designed to enrich the lives of children from six weeks to five years old. This position is essential in creating an inclusive, nurturing, and safe environment that promotes the intellectual, social, emotional, and physical growth of the children. It offers a unique chance for individuals passionate about early childhood education to make a tangible impact while being part of a supportive and collaborative team.
At Easterseals, the Assistant Teacher collaborates with the teaching team to design engaging and developmentally appropriate classroom activities aligned with both Easterseals and NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children) guidelines. The role requires prioritizing child health, safety, and well-being through direct daily care activities such as feeding, toileting, and maintaining cleanliness. Beyond classroom duties, the Assistant Teacher supports the overall operation of the center to ensure smooth functioning and a positive experience for children and families alike.
This position offers competitive hourly pay ranging from $21 to $23 and includes an excellent benefits package featuring free CDA certification, education assistance, health, dental and vision insurance, bonuses, paid time off, and various discounts on entertainment, gym memberships, travel, and more. Easterseals is committed to equal employment opportunities and values diversity among its staff, ensuring a respectful and inclusive workplace where individuals can thrive both personally and professionally.
