Job Description

Sauce is a premier restaurant technology platform dedicated to empowering local restaurants and food businesses with innovative solutions designed to maximize their potential. With headquarters in New York City and Tel-Aviv, Sauce operates within the expansive $105 billion US local restaurant market. The company specializes in offering a commission-free delivery and pickup structure alongside proprietary delivery optimization technology, positioning itself as a leader in enhancing restaurant ordering, delivery, and operational processes. Sauce serves as a critical link between local establishments and their customers by providing tools that foster direct connections, thereby removing typical barriers found in traditional third-party delivery systems. The Sauce team boasts decades of collective experience in restaurant technology, complemented by seasoned professionals across technology development, sales, marketing, product management, and operations. This wealth of knowledge contributes to the continuous development of their industry-changing delivery platform that supports both individual local restaurants and chains aiming for success in a highly competitive market.

Currently, the company is in a phase of rapid growth and maturation, with increasing onboarding of restaurant partners and climbing B2C order volumes. However, this scale introduces complexities in operations, go-to-market strategies, and cross-functional collaboration that require a more structured approach. The organization is looking to transform its operations from a reactive culture dominated by a few exceptional individuals into a repeatable, scalable system with clear ownership and measurable efficiency. In line with this vision, Sauce is recruiting a Director-level Head of Operations. This role demands versatility and cross-functional effectiveness across multiple domains including legal operations, finance operations, product operations, and delivery management. Rather than focusing on a fixed lane, this “Swiss army knife” operator will own any operational problems lacking clear ownership and will be responsible for solving these issues and instituting systemic changes to prevent their recurrence.

This position is fundamentally a builder's role. The candidate will inherit a talented team and a set of complex, high-volume challenges and will be expected to architect and implement a structured, scalable, and measurable operations engine. The goal is to develop a system that functions independently of any single individual’s heroics and prioritizes automation and AI agents over increasing headcount for repeatable processes. Key responsibilities include establishing a centralized escalation path for operational issues, consolidating scattered functions into accountable teams, managing B2B escalations, overseeing strategic operational initiatives, and executing product operations to ensure seamless delivery of new features and releases to restaurant partners. Over time, the Head of Operations will expand their purview to include delivery and customer support operations, becoming the single operational point of contact internally and externally as needed.

The ideal candidate will have over six years of experience in operations leadership, preferably within high-growth marketplaces, logistics, food-tech, fintech, or B2B SaaS sectors. Experience with on-demand delivery and restaurant technology is highly advantageous. The candidate must demonstrate a proven track record of transforming chaos into documented, scalable operational functions with tangible results such as playbooks, systems, and metrics. The ability to own cross-functional operations spanning multiple domains and strong skills in process thinking, SLA definition, and accountability enforcement are crucial. Additionally, proficiency with SQL and practical experience in automation and agent building are required to drive operational efficiency. The candidate must thrive in dynamic environments and exhibit excellent stakeholder management skills. Based in NYC or Miami, this role offers a unique opportunity to contribute strategically to a company poised for its next phase of growth.

Joining Sauce means stepping into a vibrant company committed to operational excellence and innovation within the restaurant technology space. The company provides a strong and competitive compensation package, including a comprehensive insurance plan covering health, dental, vision, and mental health services, paid parental leave, a flexible work environment, and a responsible paid time off policy. Sauce values diversity and inclusivity, embracing an equal opportunity workplace culture that supports employees regardless of background or identity. This role represents a critical leadership position poised to shape the future of restaurant technology operations by eliminating operational bottlenecks, building automation-first systems, and delivering unparalleled service to restaurant partners across the nation.
