Job Description

Serve Freight is a rapidly growing freight brokerage firm that specializes in handling high-stakes, time-sensitive, and complex shipments. As a logistics company dedicated to building a multi-division platform, Serve Freight prides itself on operating like a finely tuned machine. The company is focused on developing strong operational systems and a seamless workflow that supports every team member in performing their roles efficiently. With offices in Greenville, South Carolina, and Asheville, North Carolina, Serve Freight provides a flexible working environment with options for on-site and hybrid work. The company offers a full-time, salaried position for their Head of Brokerage Operations with a competitive compensation package ranging from $105,000 to $130,000 base salary plus performance bonuses. Immediate hire is anticipated for candidates with the right qualifications and skills who are ready to contribute immediately to the firm's growth and operational excellence.

As the Head of Brokerage Operations, this pivotal leadership role plays a central part in scaling Serve Freight's operational infrastructure and ensuring high execution quality across all functions of the brokerage. Reporting directly to the CEO, the successful candidate will collaborate closely with executive leadership to build, document, and run the internal systems that drive the company's sales, carrier sales, and operations support teams. This includes designing standard operating procedures (SOPs), process flow maps, training programs, operational playbooks, KPI ownership, and accountability systems. Beyond just designing systems, the role demands an operator mindset—someone who can optimize these processes, troubleshoot issues proactively, and coach team members to meet performance standards consistently.

The Head of Brokerage Operations will take ownership of end-to-end workflows that start with quoting and extend through delivery, continually identifying bottlenecks and inefficiencies and implementing measurable improvements. Leveraging advanced platforms such as Turvo, HubSpot, Miro, Notion, Loom, and Highway, the person in this role will enhance process efficiency, accuracy of data, and team workflows. The candidate will be actively involved in strategic planning with the CEO and leadership team, contributing operational insights that support Serve Freight's next phase of growth. Moreover, the leader will play a vital role in talent development, incorporating structured onboarding programs, performance standards, and hiring frameworks as the company scales.

The initial 30 days will focus on shadowing all roles across the company, documenting strengths and weaknesses, compiling a prioritized list of processes needing improvement, and taking initial snapshots of core performance metrics like time-to-quote and on-time delivery. Between days 31-90, the candidate will publish foundational SOPs, build a comprehensive training library, finalize process maps, and establish a live performance dashboard to provide real-time visibility of key operational indicators. In the 91-180 day period, the role evolves to completing all core SOPs, deploying automation tools, launching incentive programs linked to KPIs, and transitioning operational meetings to run independently without CEO supervision.

This role is ideal for a self-directed leader with 3 to 7 years of experience in freight brokerage or logistics who can translate operational insight into scalable, repeatable success. The ideal candidate must be adept at operational metrics, process documentation, training development, and software platforms relevant to the freight industry. Emerging skills in automation and experience with remote team leadership will be advantageous. This is an opportunity to join a dynamic and growing logistics firm at a senior level, shaping the foundation for sustained growth and operational excellence.
